6 Valentine’s Day Gifts That Aren’t Roses And Chocolates

That special day of the year is upon us once more; a day of romance, love and presents. Valentine’s Day is a totally commercialized holiday, but I, like many others out there, secretly enjoy it. It’s nice to receive Valentine’s Day gifts from your beloved to remind you of their affections, and naturally you expect the usual things like roses, teddy bears, chocolates, a romantic dinner, etc. Let me tell you right now that those Valentine’s Day gifts are so clichéd and overrated, especially if you receive them every single year. Eventually, you’ll grow tired of these mundane presents. So, why not try something a bit different this year? Something outside of the norm? These six Valentine’s Day gifts will have you forgetting all about the heart shaped boxes of chocolates and red roses in crystal vases in no time! They’ll also have you questioning why you even wanted such hackneyed gifts in the first place.

1. Couple’s Massage

A couple’s massage is one ideal Valentine’s Day gift that the both of you can enjoy together. This is one thing that both my husband and I love to do together where we can each relax, and still cherish the presence of each other’s company. Getting a massage together is definitely considered to be very intimate as well as a considerable gesture of romance. I usually prefer spas when it comes down to getting a proper massage, especially Aveda day spas. Even though they might be a tad more expensive than chain spas, like Massage Envy, the experience is all around better and you’re treated like royal guests. This Valentine’s Day gift is truly the perfect way to wind down after a stressful period of time, and to let go of all of your worries. You and your significant other will love getting a couple’s massage, and will bring you that much closer together!

2. Concert Tickets

Music is one thing that a vast majority of people end up bonding over, so why not surprise your S.O. with a pair of concert tickets? This Valentine’s Day gift is both thoughtful, and an activity that the two of you can share together. Virtually all couples share at least a few of the same tastes in music; it’s just how compatibility works plain and simple. I’ve been to many a concert with my husband over the years, and they’ve always been such fun and enjoyable experiences. Luckily for us, a lot of our tastes in music are eerily similar, so we usually have a whole list of different bands that we want to go see every year. Plus, with receiving concert tickets for a Valentine’s Day gift, you’re surprised and happy in that moment, but you also have the concert to look forward to in the near future. It’s kind of like the gift that keeps on giving, at least for a little while. This is one gift that your S.O. will find completely endearing.

3. Perfume or Cologne

Now, it may not be the most meaningful Valentine’s Day gift ever, but it still holds some air of significance when your S.O. can remember which scent you love. This is one of my favorite Valentine’s Day gifts to receive because though it’s a small gesture, it puts a very large smile on my face that my husband remembers which perfume I like to wear. It’s quite endearing to me honestly. A lot of the time in different relationships, it all comes down to the little things that you do for each other. Those are always going to be the things long remembered in a relationship. With there being quite a large variety of perfumes and colognes out there, finding the ideal scent for your beloved shouldn’t be to0 difficult a task. Buying a perfume or cologne for your S.O. may be a small reminder of your adoration, but it’s one of the greatest ways that you can say I love you and I’m always thinking about you.

4. Gift Set

One Valentine’s Day gift that you can give to the love of your life is a thoughtful gift set. What’s great about this present is that a gift set can be so many different things, and you can even put your own together if you just can’t seem to find the right one. I prefer putting my own gift sets together because I can add more personal items that I know are more meaningful to my husband. Even if you’re in a newer relationship, and are in the midst of trying to figure each other out, you can still make your S.O. a lovely Valentine’s Day gift basket. Usually things like mugs, candies, lotions, hot coco mixes, etc. are great items to use! It’s a very thoughtful gift that shows that person you care about them. If you’re shopping for your lady, then I can 99% guarantee she won’t say no to a Bath & Body Works gift set. I know I certainly wouldn’t. You can’t go wrong with this delightful Valentine’s Day gift.

5. 3D Crystal Heart

You might be thinking to yourself what’s so special about a 3D crystal heart? What sets this three-dimensional heart apart from others, is that it has a photograph engraved into it. This Valentine’s Day gift is a classy and gorgeous step-up from regular old photographs. You can pick any picture you want of you and your S.O., whether it’s the first picture the two of you ever took together or your most cherished photo from your wedding. The 3D heart is an ideal way to show your love, and own a keepsake that will last you for years and years to come. This is more than just a personalized Valentine’s Day gift, it’s truly a work of art. This is one very special gift that is sure to bring tears to the eyes of your honey.

6. Star Map

I actually fell in love with the idea of this Valentine’s Day gift when I first saw an ad of it on Facebook a couple years back. I just remember thinking to myself how cool and unique of a gift it was! A star map is exactly how it sounds, it’s a print of the night sky on a certain day. You can choose the night the two of you met, the night you first started dating, the night you two were married or any other night that holds a great amount of significance in your lives. This Valentine’s Day gift is also perfect if the both of you have an affinity for astronomy, and a love of the stars. Simply put, a star map is a beautiful and meaningful display that communicates your true affection towards one another.
