There is nothing better that cracking out the winter wardrobe, ready to accessorise with berets, knit scarves and heeled boots. So, if you’ll be changing up your outfits for winter, then why not your makeup too? Below, I have complied my personal favourite makeup choices for this winter, so why not have a go yourself?
A smoky eye really comes into its element in winter and is the only time of year you can get away with it as an every day look. Add a bit of highlighter to your inner corner to brighten up the look and get your makeup ready for the dark evenings and misty mornings.
If you’re not quite ready to commit to winter this autumnal look will be perfect for you throughout the next few weeks. Adding a bronze shimmer in the centre of the eyelid will set off this fiery look and make your eyes pop against the gloomy winter days.
Starting with a pale violet base, this look can be built up to give a colourful smoky eye effect. Just layer a few darker tones of purple to the outer lid, and maybe run that dark purple along the bottom lash line to outline your eyes and make them the centre of attention.
Gold eye shadow is a must for a night out this winter and will be sure to make you stand out. Using a pressed gold eye shadow should allow you to build up the pigmentation, however you can always experiment with glitter eye shadow if you really want the gold to be bold.
Although a cut crease might be more difficult to achieve I would recommend looking at it as two different eye shadow looks. First, a smoky eye, followed by a layer of silver eye shadow. And by adding winged eye liner will really tie this eye look together.
It’s not all about the eyes this season though, and nothing will complete the look quite like a deep plum lipstick. Add a small bit of highlighter to the top of your lip to complete the look and draw attention to your bold lip choice. This is one of the best winter makeup looks!
Don’t be put off by burgundy! If you’re looking for a red lip colour but fear that it may be too bright for you then this could be ideal for you. Burgundy lipstick will allow you to slowly convert from autumnal makeup to winter, as it looks great in both seasons! If you want a bit of shimmer, then feel free to add a thin coat of lip gloss on top.
Bold, dark red looks good all year round but paired with the smoky eye shadow, this will make the perfect winter look. Pair this look with a simple plunge black dress and you’re ready for a glam night out this season.
Lip-gloss will be perfect for you as it often comes in natural pale tones and adds a natural looking shine. If you’re after a subtle makeup look this winter, then go for a neutral lip colour that will go with absolutely any outfit and occasion.
Sometimes all you need, is a simple makeup look with a neutral eye shadow and light layer of mascara. If you’re going for this look this winter, then don’t be afraid to reach for the highlighter to give yourself a natural looking glow and to highlight the inner corners of your eye.
