Ayurveda For Beginners: What You Need To Know About Healing Process

Ayurveda is described by many as a holistic science of health that began around 6,000 years ago by Indian monks who were seeking new ways to be healthy and stay healthy. The monks believed that taking good care of their health would give them more power and strength to meditate and grow spiritually. That is why the main focus of Ayurveda is on maintaining a physical and emotional balance. Over those years, they have been observing and gathering conclusions, and now can serve advice to those who need Ayurvedic help. This is a list of things every beginner should know about Ayurveda – the healing process!

How Does Exactly Ayurveda Work?

It is a very simple and natural medicine that is based on the principles of three doshas. These doshas are very individual energies that have different functions in our bodies. Each person has a combination of all three Doshas, however, it is mostly one or two that are dominant. They can tell you a lot about your personality as well as physiological traits. The three Doshas in Ayurveda are Vata, Pitta, Kapha. It does magic through food and lifestyle.

Vata Dosha

Vata is the energy that controls all function in your body that are related to motion, including blood circulation, breathing, blinking, etc. Vata is a creative soul that has the ability to learn as quickly as it forgets. If Vata is your Dosha you are most likely to have cold hands and feet and feel discomfort in cold climates. Although you’re a very fun and lively person, you tire very easily too. Your drawback is that you respond to stress with fear and worry, and it becomes hard for you to find balance when under pressure. You tend to have dry skin and hair too, thus moisturizers are key!

Pitta Dosha

Pitta Dosha in Ayurveda means the energy that is in control of the metabolic systems, such as digestion, absorption, nutrition, and body temperature. What Ayurveda says about Pitta is that this Dosha is well-built and sharp-minded! It comes very easily to you stay focused and demand quite a lot from yourself. However, you’re self-confident, competitive, romantic and aggressive at times too. When under stress, Pitta becomes irritated and angry, and out of balance. Pitta feels uncomfortable in the sun and warm weather since they get burnt easily and tend to have freckles.

Kapha is the energy that takes control over growth in the body. It makes sure all body parts are supplied with water, it acts as a skin moisturizer, and helps maintain the immune system. Kapha Dosha in Ayurveda is a very easygoing and relaxed soul that is also compassionate, nonjudgemental and faithful. Kapha Dosha has the most energy out of all Doshas but it is slower to learn and reflect. The long-term memory is brilliant, though! Kapha has a tendency to soft hair and voice as well as large eyes. Kaphas are gentle, calms and strive harmony and peace. They are not easily upset, however, they tend to be possessive! Cold weather is not for them either!

How Do I Know My Dosha Type?

There is a vast spectrum of books relating to Ayurveda and its principles and practices. However, the best point of contact would be professionals! There is a growing number of Ayurvedic doctors who differs from doctors you are most likely to know. Nevertheless, if you fancy doing a 10-minute long questionnaire and answer some questions while giving the most precise answers then you may have a rough overview of your Dosha. You can find multiple online and they won’t cost you a penny!
