Absolute Top 10 Songs Of 2019 So Far

We are only four months into 2019; however, there have already been so many great songs! 2019 really is proving to be an incredible year for music with many musicians, bands, rappers and songwriters producing some of their best songs yet.

While there have been so many amazing songs this year there are some that stand out from the crowd. If you are unsure where to begin then we have made a list of the absolute top 10 songs of 2019 so far.

1. 7 Rings – Ariana Grande

This year of songs started off with a bang with Ariana Grande’s song 7 Rings. It debuted as number one on the Billboard Hot 100 – where it has been for 8 weeks (non consecutively). 7 Rings is about enjoying the finer and more expensive things in life and also about treating her friends. The song also draws inspiration from the musical The Sound Of Music and the song My Favourite Things.

2. Sucker – Jonas Brothers

One of the most anticipated songs of the last few years finally made its debut in 2019. Jonas Brothers’ song Sucker was released in March and is their first single as a group in six years. It also debuted in the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first boy band to be number one on the chart since 2003.

3. How Did I Get Here – Offset

The next on our list of top 10 songs is How Did I Get Here by Offset. Originally part of the hip hop group Migos, Offset has now released a solo album with this song as one of the singles on it. This song takes a look at how he got where he is today, using this song to tell his personal life story.

4. Xanny – Billie Eilish

Another of our favourite 2019 songs is Xanny by Billie Eilish. Released in March by talented 17 year old, Billie Eilish, the song relates to the drug Xanax which is often used to manage anxiety and panic disorders. It is the third track on her debut album and features light piano and strings, with heavy drums beginning later on in the song.

5. Kinda Like You – Dylan Joel

Dylan Joel is an Australian singer, songwriter, musician and rapper from Melbourne and his song Wet Clothes has made our top 10 songs of the beginning of 2019. This catchy song tells the story about a working woman who gets caught in the rain and “rocks her wet clothes”. It continues to tell all of her misfortunes and how she doesn’t let it get her down.

6. Meet Again – Maxo Kream

2019 has seen many great hip hop songs released and in January Maxo Kream dropped his new single Meet Again. This song talks about how his world is being torn apart by the criminal justice system. The lyrics are full of despair as he talks about his “homies in the grave”. This song is super heartfelt and has shown 2019 the struggles of African American citizens.

7. Imported – Jessie Reyez

The top 10 songs of 2019 also include Imported by Jessie Reyez. Jessie describes this song as being a ‘surreal feeling’. It is about no longer having someone in your life but them still being stuck in your head – no matter how hard you try to get away from them.

8. Song 32 – Noname

Noname is an American rapper and poet and this year she released one of our favourite songs – Song 32. She has a smooth jazz-inspired sound and addresses topics such as colonialism, loss and love. Noname never fails to impress us with her sound and flow and Song 32 does not disappoint!

9. Fast – Juice Wrld

American rapper, singer and songwriter Juice Wrld released a new single, Fast, earlier this year with the music video dropping in the beginning of April. Fast reflects on how fast the world has been moving around Juice Wrld and how his life has changed since finding fame.

10. New House – Rex Orange County

The final of our top 10 songs is Rex Orange County’s New House. New House was released on Valentine’s Day of this year and tells a story of being thankful for that special someone in your life. This light-hearted and hopeful song and is backed by a beautiful piano melody.
