10 Top Hip-Hop Music Moguls

The Hip-Hop community and the fans that support them is the foundation of why they are where they are in the music industry. The legacy’s that they create for future artists to follow behind is the pathway to success, Hip-Hop Music Moguls.

1. Jay-Z

The infmaous man that is married to THE BEYONCE KNOWLES is a music icon. Jay-Z also known as hov, started career in the mid 1980’s. He became the co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records.

2. Diddy

Sean Combs has invested in the television network Revolt, along with starting his own clothing line called Sean John. He also has partnered with alcohol brands like Tequila and Ciroc.

His deal consistents of Diageo’s Circo and DeLeon Tequila.

He started his career as a director of A&R at Uptown Records. He launched Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, Mariah Carey, Lil Kim.

3. Dr. Dre

He produced and was apart of group N.W.A. and later he co-founded Death Row Records in 1991. In 1992, he released his first solo album, The Chronic, which became a huge hit.

Dre later started Aftermath Entertainment in 1996, where he signed Eminem and 50 Cent.

In 2014, he co-founded the Beats Electronics with Jimmy Iovine, where he later made millions from Apple sales.

4. Drake

Drake made is debut appearance as the cute guy in Degrassi who ended up being in a wheelchair. Degrassi was a teen drama television series in the early 2000s. He wanted to pursue a career as a rapper and left the series in 2007 , where he released a mixtape titled “Room for Improvement”.

5. Eminem

Early 1999, Eminem released The Slim Shady LP and the album ended up going mutli-platinum. This caused Eminem to receive two Grammy Awards and four MTV Music Awards. In 2000, he released The Marshall Mathers LP, which was the fastest-selling album history.

6. Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne started rapping  at the age of 8, soon affter connecting with Bryan and Slim Williams, the founders of Cash Money Record, a few years later, in 1996, at 15, Lil Wayne launched his rap career with Hot Boys, a Cash Money Records rap group.

7. Pharell Williams

In 2013,  No. 1 with his solo effort “Happy” as well as helping to craft hits with Robin Thicke and Daft Punk. He joined the television competition The Voice in September 2014 as a coach.

8. Kanye West

Early in hsi musiccareer he showed to be a promising producer, when he contributed to Jermaine Dupri’s album Life in 1472. In 1998, he relocated to the New York City, it is there where he made a concrete name when he produced for Roc-A-Fella Records.

He worked on Jay-Z’s album Blueprint, and his skill in using accelerated sample beats made him high demand as a producer.

9,  Timbland

Timbaland is a hit-making producer for a number of R&B artists that included the late Aaliyah and Missy Elliot. He continued that work by working with Nelly, Justin Timberlake, Madonna.

He also is the executive music producer for the hit TV show Empire.

10. Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg is a West Coast rap legend, who was discovered by Dr. Dre in the early 1990’s. He later became everyone’s favorite gangsta uncle from the West Coast. He featured in many songs, movies and is a mentor.
