It’s hard being in college. Managing academic life and social life can be very tricky and stressful. Money is always an issue; It seems like my bank account is always going through a drought. I always look for cheaper options to save money, but a girl still needs to have fun! Here’s how to have fun when you’re broke AF at Temple University.
You can go to the Student Center and grab free food every Friday. It’s a great way to save your meal swipes, especially when you’re running low on meal swipes on weekends.
Located on the lower level of the Student Center South, The Reel is way cheaper than the regular cinema – even the concession food. A movie ticket is $2 with a Temple ID and $4 without one.
The SAC is your go-to when you’re broke. They offer many free activities, which are great to go to with your crew.
You can watch sports events for free with your Temple ID. You should take advantage of it and show some school spirit. Football and Basketball season is always super fun.
There’re many food trucks around the campus which are not only fun, but also cheap! You can grab some food from a food truck and hang out with your friends at the bell tower. Sometimes, you don’t need to do anything special to have fun.

Temple University is located in the middle of North Philadelphia. You should take advantage of it! Philadelphia has a beautiful city hall, and walking around at night is absolutely stunning. You can take the subway or you can Uber Pool with your friends.
It’s important to stay healthy, and working out can improve your mental and physical shape. Temple University has 3 gyms – IBC, TUF, and Fitness Mezzanine – so definitely hit those up for free, fit fun. A little soreness won’t hurt you, and you won’t regret it afterwards.
Want to party on weekends, but you’re broke? No problem! You can go to house parties for free. But make sure you go with friends and never go alone! Pro tip: Temple Partyowl on Twitter can definitely lead you to some good parties.
