The Must Have Footwear of Fall

With fall approaching, it’s important to make sure you have all your proper footwear in order. Sadly it’s time to put away most of the open-toed shoes and most white shoes should be put away too, not just for fashion reasons, but for your own safety with unpredictable autumn weather. However here are some shoes you should definitely be sure to have on hand when walking around your school this fall!

A Pair of Rainboots

The fall is sadly filled with plenty of cold rainy days, so you’re going to definitely want a solid pair of rainboots. Nowadays there are so many different pairs of rainboots, you’ll have plenty to choose from. The most common brand we think of today is Hunters, but there are plenty of other cute makers like Polo and Sperry. Rainboots are perfect to style with a pair of skinny jeans, leggings and even maybe a dress if you’re feeling bold enough. You’ll be thankful later that you have a pair when crossing streets with puddles that look more like pools, so you don’t have to worry about getting your feet wet.

Suede Ankle Booties

Fall fashion is actually very fun to play around with in terms of style, and a shoe you’re going to want to have on hand is a suede bootie, as they work with almost any outfit. Whether you have on jeans and a flannel, a dress, skirt, or even a casual business pant, a suede bootie adds that flair you were looking for in your outfit, without having to get complex. They are perfect for those who aren’t a fan of fall boots that go up to the knee. Any color would be acceptable in these, but the most common ones I typically see are tan and black.

Dark Colored Canvas Sneaker

With going back to school comes many activities in the fall. Some of those may involve you stepping somewhere that is full of stains waiting to happen like a frat party, a muddy field, or even just a walk down the street on a rainy day. So you’re going to want to have a dark colored pair of canvas shoes on hand. These shoes are easy to wash when dirty, and you don’t have to worry if they get wet of them being totally ruined (unlike leather). I would recommend either converse, vans, or my personal favorite Keds!

Knee High Leather Boot

Ever since freshman year of high school, I have always had a pair of tall leather boots in my closet. My mom let me borrow a pair of hers and as soon as I tried them on and took a few steps I knew I had to have a pair of my own. The power I felt when walking in them was unexplainable, but it gave me a certain confidence that I still feel six years later whenever I wear this type of shoe. Most of the power in these boots come in the heel. Now I’m not much of a heel person, so the maximum height I’d ever do is two inches. They are perfect with jeans, skirts, dresses; you could even rock these with leggings if you had the right top. I just love them and they are a fall essential add a sense assurance to any look!

Mule

A mule is basically a more dressy version of a slipper, so for comfort sake, you should absolutely consider adding these into your closet. They have become more and more popular in the past few years, especially know that business casual is more widely accepted among young adults. Also, you can find them in many different patterns and styles from leather to leopard print. These shoes are perfect with a dress or a pair of jeans. You can either dress them up or down depending on how you’re feeling, but you’ll be happy you have them when a presentation comes along that requires you to dress up!
