The Latest Fashion Trends You Need To Know For 2022

The start to the new year is among us, for some it’s just another year, for others it’s a fresh start and an opportunity to reinvent yourself. What better way to reinvent yourself than reinventing your closet? Here are the latest fashion trends you need to know for 2022!

Low-rise

Y2K style is definitely making a come back this season. Models all around the world have been seen on the streets and on the runway in low rise pants. Low rise jeans were once an iconic fashion trend but they were tossed in the wind when they found they weren’t so inclusive. Low rise was a style that was believed only a certain body type could wear, however with the world becoming more and more inclusive and accepting low rise is a fashion trend anyone with any body can rock!

Crochet

This next fashion trend can also be considered a newfound hobby of Gen-Z. People all over the world, especially the younger generation, have seem to pick up crocheting. I’ve seen plenty of accounts on tiktok and instagram, something that once started to keep people preoccupied during quarantine has turned into a business.

Why this is such a big fashion trend is because you can crochet just about anything, from water bottle holders, to purses and bags, to… you guessed it clothes. Why crochet clothes are so popular is because of how versatile they are, you can crochet clothes for any season from summer to winter and be cute and comfortable in them.

Layering

This fashion trend isn’t just a piece of clothing, but what you can do with multiple pieces. Layering is a newfound trend that has continued to spread. Layering clothing is pretty much exactly what it sounds like, layering pieces of clothing on top of another to create an outfit or ‘look’.

A reason why it has caught on so much is because of how functional the style is. You know those day’s when the mornings are cold and the afternoons are warm well layering is the perfect solution. Instead of dying of heat on those afternoons, layering gives you the option to shed layer by layer until you’re comfortable!

Corset

Now going way back to the 1800’s where corsets were the latest fashion trend. Well here we are in 2022 and the iconic corset fashion trend is back! I know, it’s weird to think the corset is coming back after all it’s controversy it once held. But it seems everyone has moved past it and has seen it for what it truly is, a great fashion statement.

What seemed to start the trend is the Netflix show ‘Bridgerton”, this show blew up a few months ago and is set in the 1800’s and has brought the Renaissance style back. Since then the corset style has showed up in all different ways whether it be worn as lingerie, just a cute top, or layered on top of other clothes. Overall this is definitely a cute modern twist on the vintage corset and a fashion trend you need to try!

Mom Jeans

This next fashion trend is one hundred percent my favorite of all time. The classic Mom jeans. However, in the 80s these were just known as jeans. The appeal with mom jeans is unquestionably the comfortably aspect of them. Mom jeans, unlike skinny jeans, are known to be baggy around your legs so it could very much feel like denim sweats, and who wouldn’t want that.

The other aspect of course is the fashionability of them. Comfort and fashion is what we strive for and Mom jeans fit both of these categories. While they may just be a pair of denim jeans, they adapt to all different styles. You can style them up with a pair of heels and cute top, or style them down with a pair of converse and an oversized Tee. Either way they’re a cute and comfortable fashion trend that I can get behind!

Catsuits

When it comes to CatSuits I need you to picture more Kardashian and less Cat women. Yup, you heard me right, the famous 90’s catsuit is back in style. If you’re unfamiliar with the body-hugging, formfitting Catsuit is let me spell it out for you. Think of a body suit, but with legs, or a fashionable onesie.

Why I say think more Kardashian, is because they were the first to start this trend up again. Cat suits were thought of as more costume, but we started seeing more and more celebrities wear them which has helped make it one of the latest fashion trends. Now the style has gained more popularity and is definitely an insta worthy outfit!

Leather

Now, this next fashion trend has always been in style but not necessarily trending. But leather, specifically faux leather is trending right now. At first I wasn’t the biggest fan of leather, mostly because of how heavy it is, however faux leather I can get behind. Leather jackets area statement piece that can spice up any outfit.

Take a white crop and jeans for example, by itself it’s just a regular old plain outfit, but add a leather jacket and it changes the game. Leather jackets are something that was more popular in the 90’s, however leather pants are making a big appearance today. I see girls wearing all type of leather pants whether it be expensive real leather that celebrities are wearing on the street, or a cute faux moment.

Scarves

Colorful and versatile, vintage head scarves are back! Why they are so popular is because of the versatility of them. Since they are just piece of fabric you can do what you want with it, the only thing stopping you is your creativity. Some people use them as shirts or tops while other style scarves are by using them as a headband.

Another reason why scarves are so popular is because of the wide price range. You can find scarves under high end name brand stores, or your local thrift shop, therefore anyone can rock them! Sadly these are definitely more of a spring /summer necessity so you might have to wait for it to get a little warmer to pull out your scarves!
