The Best Spots To Stop And Admire The Fall Foliage This Year

With the first day of fall coming up on Septemeber 23rd, it also means that it is the start of fall foliage. The term “Fall Foliage” means that the leaves on the trees transform into various colors with the right combination of both the temperature and the weather working closely together. There are many places across the country to witness the foliage occurring, which creates beautiful scenery until it becomes winter. With that being said, here are a few of the best spots in the United States and Canada that one must travel to stop and admire the fall foliage this year:

1. Green Mountains – Vermont:

The best of the fall foliage at The Green Mountains in Vermont tend to take place over a long period of sunny and warm days combined with the cold overnight temperatures. Here, you will find leaves in bright hues of violet-red pin-cherry and yellow alder in addition to seeing maple trees that are either colored in red or blazing orange. Once a person arrives at Mount Mansfield, he or she is in the area’s highest and most colorful peak. The beautiful scenery in The Green Mountains also includes charming meadows and peaceful-like towns and farms.

2. Litchfield Hills – Connecticut:

Located in the Western parts of the state of Connecticut, Litchfield Hills is the place to visit if you want to visit a postcard picture (and Instagram worthy) destination when you are in the New England area.  For the full fall foliage experience, it is best to drive through Route 7 along the Housatonic River from New Milford to Cornwall as you will see a landscape full of bright and rich colors autumn colors (red, orange, yellow, to name a few) and various species of trees. Be sure to stop by the towns surrounding Litchfield Hills as there several antique shops, restaurants, and art galleries that are worth checking out.

3. Niagara Falls – New York and Ontario:

One can make the best of both worlds when visiting this site as you can see parts of Niagara Falls in The United States and Canada. The American and Bridal Veil Falls are located on The American side of the park while The Horseshoe Falls are located on The Canadian side of the park. Despite summer being the park’s peak season, The Falls still gain plenty of visitors during the fall, mostly for fall foliage. Regardless of which of the three falls that you decide to visit, you will be surrounded in an area full of lush forests and parks. Niagara Falls has more than 70 different species of trees, offering an array of various colors of leaves.

4. Emerald Necklace Trail – Boston, Massachusetts:

The city of Boston is the perfect place to be in for both the fall and winter seasons. In terms of fall foliage, this park (located in the actual city of Boston), Emerald Neck Trail is one of the places you definitely have to check out! It is best to come to see the fall foliage between the middle of October and the first week of November. A person has the best of both worlds by visiting one of Boston’s most popular attractions: walking around and seeing beautiful trees and colorful leaves, and being in an actual city and not somewhere far away or in a national park.
