Attention all fashion lovers: This one is for you. There are so many iconic movies that are about fashion and display fashion in a beautiful way. Maybe you just have an appreciation for clothing or maybe you envision yourself as one of the actors one day, either way these movies are all about glitz and glamour.
If your having a girls night in, these are perfect for you. Skip the gory slasher film and give one of these a try. 1. The Devil Wears Prada
OK, we all knew this was going to be the first one. Who doesn’t want to be Meryl Streep playing Miranda Priestly. This movie, if you don’t already know, follows a young journalist by the name of Andrea Sachs played by Anne Hathaway. She is looking for a job and lands the assistant position for the Editor-in-Chief at Runway Magazine. The movie is all about fashion. From the plot itself, the dresses that they wear and the shoes we cannot forget about the shoes. It gives you a peek at the fashion journalism world. It’s definitely an all time favorite.
2. Oceans 8
After being in prison for over five years, Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) is ready to take back the life that was stolen from her…literally. A group of women decides to rob the annual Met Gala hosted by Vogue. You’ll have to watch the brilliant movie to see what happens. But the item itself they have their eye on is a Cartier necklace that cost more than $150 million. Within the movie, fashion icons come to life. Anna Wintour, Kim Kardashian West, Alexander Wang and more all have cameos within the movie. If you love fashion, you’ll love the costume designer for this film.
3. 13 Going On 30
Another classic. Jenna Rink played by Jennifer Gardner dreams to be 30 on her 13 birthday and what do you know, it comes true. She wakes up in her apartment as a 30-year-old woman working for one of the most pristine fashion magazines, Poise. This movie has some twists and turns but overall is a magical film. If you enjoy early 2000’s fashion this movie is a must see. Not only are the outfits used in the movie fun but it also has a fashion feel from the magazine they all work at.
4. Breakfast at Tiffany’s
OK, this one is actually a classic. This is a movie for fashion lovers. Searching for a rich and older man to marry, Holly Golightly is played by the fashion icon Audrey Hepburn. From the clothing to the jewelry to the hats, this movie screams fashion. It has a great storyline but also will make you fall in love with fashion. If you haven’t seen this movie, you are definitely missing out.
5. The September Issue
This documentary is a must watch if you plan to live and work in the fashion industry. You think you know but you don’t. It follows Grace Coddington and Anna Wintour as they prepare for Vouge biggest issue: The September Issue. Did you know that Anna Wintour was the first person to put a celebrity on the front cover? Well if you’ve seen the movie you would. It takes you through the ins and outs out the fashion journalism industry. It’s the real-life version of The Devil Wears Prada.
