With the Oscars coming up soon you’re probably looking for some tasty and classy cocktails to serve out to your guests. You want drinks that will offer the best balance between looking like they could be found at the Academy Awards and also being tasty enough for your friends and family to enjoy. Here are 10 tasty and classy cocktails that will be perfect to serve at your Oscars party!
1. Cherry-Orange Tequila Cocktail
This cherry-orange tequila drink not only looks great but tastes amazing! For this recipe, you’ll need some specific ingredients to get the right layer effect to give this cocktail the orange sunset vibe that makes it perfect for any party. For one layer you’ll have to use maraschino cherry syrup that you will have to strain from a jar of the cherries. It also requires creme de cassis to be slowly poured over the ice to make the second layer. Then, slowly pour in the orange juice, and the tequila, of course, to fill in the top and give it that great, early sunset look.
2. Cran Royale
Some recipes require a bit more work to make the fancy and tasty cocktails that you’ll impress your guests with. This recipe is for a Cran Royale which will take a bit of prep to make but will be totally worth it. You’ll need about 15 minutes to cook the thyme, cranberries, and sugar in a small saucepan to make the cranberry-thyme syrup. The good news is that you can make it ahead of time (up to 2 weeks ahead according to the recipe) and save yourself the time the night of your party! Put some of your syrup, lemon juice, Campari, and ice into a shaker and strain into a coupe glass. Top it with some champagne and garnish with some cranberries to give it a fancier look.
3. Minty Moscow Mule Puch
This drink makes an addition to a classic Moscow Mule to give it some extra flavor. The ingredients are basically the same using vodka (or gin if you’d prefer) with lime juice and ginger beer. For this Minty Moscow Mule Punch recipe, however, you’ll also add some homemade ginger-mint simple syrup! It may take a bit more time but it’ll add great minty and ginger flavors to this great cocktail. You can also make this syrup ahead of time and save yourself the hassle when you’re prepping for your Oscars party. You can make these cocktails in a big punch which will help you out and also help out your guests who just keep coming back for more.
4. Picante Pigeon
This is one of the spicier cocktails on this list with the use of jalapenos. But don’t let that dissuade you, the Picante Pigeon is a delicious drink that also looks great. You’ll shake up your jalapeno slices with your sugar in a shaker. Then add the tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and ice and shake until the shaker gets frosty. Strain the mixture into a glass filled with ice and slide onto a slice of grapefruit as a fancy garnish. Any guests at your Oscars party who love heat and spice will definitely love this drink.
5. Blood & Sand
Some great cocktails are inspired by famous movies, as is the case with this drink the Blood & Sand. A film originally from 1922 and was remade a few times the most recent being in 1989. This cocktail is simple but has a great color and amazing taste. It’s simple to make you just need scotch, cherry brandy, sweet vermouth, and orange juice. Throw on an orange peel for some garnish and you and your guests can feel like you’re actually at the Oscars drinking this cocktail.
6. Blackberry Thyme Sparkler
If you prefer cocktails that aren’t made with only hard liquor then this is a great and elegant drink to try out. This Blackberry Thyme Sparkler makes for a perfect addition to any Academy Awards party because it looks like it would be found at the after-party of such an event. You’ll make your own simple syrup which can take some time but gives you a delicious blackberry syrup for this and other cocktails. You’ll use some butter to stick the gold baking sugar on the rim that’ll give the drink a really fancy look! The drink uses a bit of gin followed by your homemade blackberry syrup, some blackberries, and champagne! Top with some thyme as a garnish and you’ve got a fancy-looking drink perfect for Oscars, NYE, or any kind of elegant party!
A Negroni makes for a simple drink to put out for your Oscars party that’s both delicious and great looking. It’s made of gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth and can be stirred, shaken or strained. Garnish it with an orange slice and impress your party guests with a quick and delicious drink. It can be made in just a few minutes and has great flavors! A great and easy cocktail you can put out for any occasion.
8. Blueberry Basil Margarita
With just a few adjustments to a standard margarita, you can get this delicious, blue cocktail that’s perfect for any party! You’ll muddle the blueberries and basil with the tequila to get a nice, faint blue color. Add the agave nectar and lime juice with some ice and shake the mixture. Garnish with an additional basil leaf float and if you need more liquid you can use some filtered water. If you’ve got some margarita lovers at your Oscars party then this is a great choice because it’s easy, delicious and cool to look at.
An Algonquin is a tasty whiskey martini that makes a classic cocktail that’s perfect for parties. It’s easy to make and has some great flavors. It only takes rye whiskey, dry vermouth, and pineapple juice! It was named after the Algonquin Hotel in New York City and is a great, classic cocktail to serve at your Oscars party. It’s got a bit of a tropical taste because of the pineapple juice and if you use unsweetened pineapple juice you’ll get a drier cocktail which a lot of people prefer.
10. The Red Carpet
The final, and most appropriately named, cocktail on this list is the Red Carpet. This drink has a great taste and a deep red color similar to that of the red carpet walked upon at so many celebrity events (such as the Oscars). It’s easy to make with just vodka, Campari, simple syrup, and a pomegranate liqueur for the red coloring. Shake this all together and strain it into a chilled cocktail glass for a smooth and fancy-looking cocktail. Garnish it with a lemon slice and serve it to your guests and you’ll be soon known as the party host with the best, and best looking, cocktails!
