10 Summer Vodka Drink Recipes That’ll Cool You Down

There are some summer vodka drink recipes that share similarities like the Appletini, Cosmopolitan, Creamsickle Punch, and the Sex on the Beach have in common: they consist of fruity flavorings like apple, orange, lemon, cranberry, and peach. There are also other summer vodka drink recipes that do not share the same likeness as the fruit-flavored cocktails like the Chocolatini. This list of summer vodka drink recipes will help cool you down in the heat.

1. Appletini

An Appletini, or an apple martini, are sweet and delicious cocktails that are good to share with friends. These drinks are the most popular fruit martini offered in local and modern bars.  An Appletini takes three minutes to make and it is a favorite for many drinkers due to its odd coloring and its sweet flavor. This summer vodka drink recipe requests  1 1/2 ounces of vodka, an ounce of green apple schnapps and a 1/4 ounce of lemon juice. An Appletini is garnished with an apple slice and then it is ready to be served.

2. Bloody Mary

A Bloody Mary is a basic brunch classic, which can also be a diabetic disaster. If you take out the vodka, you can make it a virgin Bloody Mary, which is a viable option for diabetics. The Bloody Mary recipe requests four ounces of tomato juice which is combined with a lemon and lime wedge, two ounces of vodka, two teaspoons of horseradish, two dashes of Worcestershire sauce, freshly ground pepper, two dashes of hot sauce (Tabasco or Cholula), a pinch of celery salt, a pinch of ground pepper, and a pinch of smoked paprika. A Bloody Mary can be garnished with a lime wedge, green olives, parsley sprig, or a celery stalk. When the Bloody Mary is garnished, the alcoholic beverage is ready to be served.

3. Cosmopolitan

The Cosmopolitan, or a “Cosmo,” is a simple cocktail which was known for its popularity in the 1990’s when the HBO show “Sex and the City” piqued the interest of people who watched it. This summer vodka drink recipe requests 1 1/2 ounces of citrus vodka, an ounce of Cointreau, a 1/2 of fresh lime juice, and a dash of cranberry juice. A Cosmopolitan is garnished with a lime wheel and then the alcoholic beverage is ready to be served.

4. Chocolatini

The Chocolatini, or Chocolate Martini, is the perfect combination of boozy and sweet. This summer vodka drink recipe is the perfect dessert-drink when you are craving something sweet. You can garnish this drink however you wish. You could add shaved chocolate, cocoa powder, strawberries, crushed Oreos, or a sprig of mint to accent the sweetness with a minty undertone. The Chocolatini recipe requests two tablespoons of chocolate syrup (plus more for drizzling), four ounces of Baileys, four ounces of chocolate liqueur, four ounces of Smirnoff vodka, ice, and shaved chocolate which is optional if you do not want to add extra chocolate to your beverage.

5. Creamsickle Punch

The Creamsickle Punch can make any brunch or party better. This punch is always a winner when it comes to the starting days of summer. This summer vodka drink recipe offers 12 servings and takes 10 minutes to make. The Creamsickle Punch recipe requests two quarts of orange juice, two cups of vodka, a liter of ginger ale, one bottle of prosecco, a quart of vanilla ice cream, and an orange tnat is thinly sliced.

6. Kamikaze

One of the summer vodka drink recipes that will help combat the heat is the Kamikaze. In the 1970’s and 1980’s, vodka was the liquor of choice for many drinkers in the United States. During this time, the shot became a staple in the United States bars and it still remains a favorite to this day. These shots inspired the popular Kamikaze cocktail, which is essentially the same drink with more lime juice that is served in a cocktail glass instead of a shot glass. A Kamikaze takes three minutes to make per shot, which is essentially the same as the cocktail. This recipe requests 1 1/2 ounces of vodka, 1/2 ounce of orange liqueur and a dash of lime. Kamikazes are garnished with a lime wedge and then the alcoholic beverage is ready to be served.

7. Lemon Drop Martini

A Lemon Drop Martini is one of the perfect summer vodka drink recipes to make for any night of the week. This drink is easy to make with only three ingredients,is you will love to make this drink all the time during the summer. The Lemon Drop Martini takes 10 minutes to make and the recipe requests two ounces of vodka, an ounce of simple syrup (which can be replaced with Stevia or Splenda), and 1 1/2 tablespoons of lemon juice (about 1/2 a lemon). The Lemon Drop Martini is garnished with an extra lemon and has a rim of sugar on the brim of the glass when served.

8. Long Island Iced Tea

One of the summer vodka drink recipes that will help combat the heat is the Long Island Iced Tea, which has multiple alcohol-based ingredients. These alcohol-based ingredients offers an ounce of vodka, gin, white rum, and white tequila with a half an ounce of Triple Sec in the mixture. This cocktail also has other key components that are combined in this recipe like lemon juice, ice, Coca-Cola, and lemon wedges to garnish the drink. The Long Island Iced Tea is one of the non-citrusy cocktails for you to enjoy this summer!

9. Screwdriver

One of the summer vodka drink recipes that I will recommend is the Screwdriver this is a good drink, not just for the heat, but for the amount of sweetness it offers for first time drinkers. The Screwdriver is a somewhat popular highball alcoholic drink, which is made with orange juice and vodka. This cocktail may be a basic alcoholic concoction with two ingredients, but to 21-year-old college students, this drink is the cheapest way to indulge themselves. Although this beverage has two ingredients, there are multiple variations of this cocktail.

If you want your Screwdriver to have an interesting twist, you can add Sprite, 7-Up, or the equivalent. However, if you are diabetic, or are not a fan of sugar, you can add club soda with each of these options and it will give you a spritzer effect. When you pour the drink over the ice (or the rocks) it will delude itself over time. If you want to get all of the tangy goodness, you should drink this cocktail with a straw.

10. Sex on the Beach

A Sex on the Beach is one of the best summer vodka drink recipes which has a citrusy tang to it. This cocktail is a classic drink recipe that offers the citrusy flavor of a grapefruit while also offering another fruity flavor: cranberries. The Sex on the Beach’s flavor may be citrusy, but it also has enough tartness to keep it from being too sweet. For first-time drinkers, it is a perfect drink to start with due to the alcohol flavor, which is not noticeable.  A Sex on the Beach is an easy drink to make if you have the ingredients to make it. This beverage requests two ounces of vodka, one ounce of peach schnapps, two ounces of grapefruit juice (or orange juice), two ounces of cranberry juice, and (this is optional) a teaspoon of lemon juice.
