20 Signs You Are A Theater Person

Let’s face it. If you’re a “theater person”, you’re definitely not shy about it. And why should you be? There’s more to being a theater person than just the costumes and showtunes. There is the singing and dancing, and then there’s the countless hours of rehearsing and memorizing, the practicing all night until you get it right, the amazing friendships you make, the silly memories you create and the stories you’ll have to tell forever. And finally, the feeling of putting on a show that those watching will never forget. If you can relate to this, these are 20 signs you are a theater person.

1) Hearing a word or phrase that automatically makes you burst into a show tune.

2) Overdosing on Throat Coat.

3) Using the “I don’t do sports” gig to make up for your lack of physical activity.

4) When you’re sad that you just finished performing your last show but remember you have strike in a week.

5) All hell breaks loose during tech week.

6) Auditions: A place where all your friends are not your friends anymore for a couple of hours.

7) The smell of wood shavings onstage is your sixth sense.

8) Running lines in public places like the mall or park is usual.

9) The feeling you get after you hit a high note.

10) Being your castmates’ biggest fans from the wings.

11) Emotions EVERYWHERE.

12) That one stair that is semi broken and you’re always afraid it will fall off one day.

13) Costume fittings are exciting until you cannot fit into almost everything.

14)  You’re in a hilarious scene and you cannot stop yourself from laughing.

15) Did someone say, Hamilton?

16) When improvisation during an actual show ends up being a great story to talk about later.

17) When you do choreography in public without any shame.

18) You’re loud enough to not have a mic.

19) You watch the Tonys.

20) You will love your drama family forever and love every minute you spend with them.
