Being born anywhere in Illinois, besides Chicago, comes with its perks. There are a few things only people who live in the suburbs will understand. Here are a few signs that prove you’re from the Chicago suburbs.

1. Your annual easy to go trips include: going to The Bean or going to Crown Fountain

We all love taking pics ‘holding’ or ‘kissing’ the Bean. We also love to kick and jump in the water as the person on the building spits it out at the Crown Fountain!

2. When people ask you where you are from, you reply saying,

Let’s be honest; No one knows where Gurnee, Northbrook, Springfield, etc… is located, so why not give people an answer they actually know.

3. Eating Deep dish pizza is not a big deal anymore since you’ve had it so many times

Although Lou Malnati’s deep dish pizza is the bomb, how much of it can you possibly have until you have too much of it.

4. When you think of shopping; You think of the Magnificent Mile

There are so many vibrant shops, luxurious fashion outlets, and large restaurants that it is hard not to want one of everything.

5. After shopping at Kohl’s or Target in the burbs, stores in the city like: Zara or Banana Republic become way too expensive for you

6. Every winter calls for a trip to Millennium Park, to ice skate the night way

7. You were born with the Willis Tower being called the Sears Tower and it’s hard for you to change its name now.

8. You love calling Chicago names like Chiraq, Chi-Town, Chi-City, or Chi

“Chicago” is such a fun word to say itself, so why not give it a nickname to make it sound even more better.

9. Sprinkles cupcakes is somewhere you have to take your foreign friends because of aesthetic purposes

10. Visiting the city and staying there till late at night, during Christmas, when the lights are up is just the best
