5 Reasons Why I Chose To Go To University of Washington

Applying to college is daunting enough–forget about picking which one you’ll actually attend for the next 4 years! To help you out a bit, here are my top 5 reasons why I chose to go to University of Washington.

1. There’s nothing like the skyline of the Emerald City (Starbucks and flannels and rain, oh my!)

Seattle is a beautiful and diverse city that sits right on the edge of the blue Pacific Ocean. Seattle was born as a major West Coast port city, and it keeps its rainy seaside vibes to this day. Right in the thick of Seattle, University of Washington’s campus is just as beautiful as the view of Mt. Rainier that’s visible from Drumheller Fountain.

2. No matter what kind of food you’re craving, you’ll find it at UW.

Whether you’re vegetarian or vegan, lactose intolerant or gluten intolerant, paleo or whether you just really want some coffee, you’ll find what you’re looking for at UW. And if, by some phenomenon, you don’t find what you’re looking for on campus, you won’t have to search hard to get what you’re looking for. After all, this is Seattle, baby!

3. UW is one of the top schools in the US.

University of Washington was listed by US News to be one of the top public colleges in the country. Not only is this coastal university beautiful, it’s also one of the best colleges out there.

4. No major, no problem!

If you’re undecided as an incoming freshman, you won’t stay that way for long. Not only are there countless majors to choose from, UW has its general requirements set up so no matter what classes you take for your first couple quarters, the credits will count toward something. This gives freshmen lots of opportunities to experiment and explore before settling into one department.

5. Greek life at the UW is something you won’t want to miss out on.

As an incoming freshman, one of the things I’m most looking forward to is Fall Recruitment at UW. The Greek community is thriving here and welcomes students of all backgrounds and personalities. The connections you make through your fraternity or sorority are ones that can last a lifetime, and this is especially true for those friendships you make at UW.
