5 Outfits That Are Perfect For Work Video Calls

Planning on having video calls while working from home? Although we are all staying home for the foreseeable future, work has still found a way to come home with us. Rather than getting caught off-guard wearing the same hoodie you have been wearing for three days, check out these outfits that are perfect for working from home and answering calls throughout the day.

1. Striped blouses

A classic office wear staple is a striped blouse such as this one. The minimal design is chic and perfect to wear whether you are working at an office or at home. There’s just something about vertical stripes specifically that make for the perfect top to wear to work, whether at home or an office. Luckily the material is pretty loose and flowy making it comfy enough to be worn all day. If you are going to be answering video calls, it wouldn’t hurt to add some jewelry such as a necklace and go about your usual makeup routine if you have one.

You might think answering these work calls lets you get away with wearing whatever for bottoms which is technically true. However, it could help get you in the work mindset if you are dressed up completely. Luckily, a pair of black trousers are great for looking great while still being comfortable to wear at home. You could get away with wearing a nice pair of jeans with this outfit, depending on how formal you are feeling that day. Outfits like these are simple, and even though we may not be on-the-go are great for every virtual meeting.

2. Floral blouses

Office wear does not always have to be so rigid, especially now since we are not in physical offices. You are free to show off some personality and vibrancy and what better way to do so with your work from home outfit. Floral blouses are fun to wear but can still be worn for a day full of meetings.

If you love wearing colors, this is the perfect outfit for you, including these trousers in a beautiful shade of blush pink. If you are taking virtual calls at home, there isn’t a need to wear a blazer or outer layer unless of course, you are really feeling yourself. For makeup, a bold red shade is perfect to compliment the bold colors of your top.  The contrast this outfit makes for a stylish business casual outfit and not to mention is also appropriate for the upcoming spring weather.

3. Patterned blouses

If flowers are not really you are style, there are plenty of options out there for work-appropriate patterns. One of which is this cheetah print blouse in black and white which definitely adds some interest. Any other pattern would work just as well such as geometric patterns or even a black and white floral print. This short-sleeved blouse in particular also is pretty versatile and could be worn for any occasion.

Wearing this top is perfect for answering work calls when worn with a black or navy blue blazer or light cardigan to tone the print down. Once the work part of your day is over and your friends call to chat about their day, your outfit will be ready to transition to a casual meetup (virtually of course). The white trousers or jeans are also great in this outfit for standing out, but feel free to wear any color you think works well for you.

4. Pastel cardigans

Since we are working from home, the typical office outfit is given a few liberties for being a bit more casual than usual. This means we can easily swap out a traditional blazer with a comfortable cardigan such as this one. An extra-long cardigan like this one has a touch of formality but is still cozy enough to keep on when taking a break on the couch.

If you love wearing pink, this is the cardigan for you, since it definitely breaks through the traditional muted and monochromatic office wardrobe. Yet, it is still sophisticated enough to be worn when answering video calls. Other pastel colors such as mint green or sky blue also work just as well when incorporating color into an outfit. Wearing a striped T-shirt underneath is a great cohesive choice for this outfit for a formal yet casual top. You could probably get away with wearing leggings with this outfit, although some nice blue or black jeans would really complete this office-ready look. White Converse or your choice of sneaker gives the entire outfit a more casual and relaxed feel which is good for working from home as well as out for a walk.

5. All black everything

Nothing is more chic than an outfit comprised of one color, especially black. Wearing a black on black outfit is sure to make you look cool, elegant, and definitely professional. Apart from the sunglasses, you could rock this entire outfit when working from home and answering any video calls at a moment’s notice. Starting with a black turtleneck sweater, you will be kept warm and is also easy to just throw on in order to be instantly camera ready. A black blazer worn over your sweater is a definite way to dress up an already formal sweater such as this one.

A pair of black jeans or trousers perfectly compliments the outfit and creates a look that is cohesive and structured. The Gucci belt is not necessary, although it makes the perfect accessory to feel even more expensive.  Obviously, no one is forcing you to wear black pumps too, you could get away with your favorite pair of slippers or cozy socks. Since dress codes have become more lax, you can get away with an outfit like this that is still formal enough to wear to work and casual enough to wear walking to a coffee shop.
