Missing Video Games are a phenomenon in which video games are unavailable to play to the general public. Maybe the game was released online and has since vanished, or maybe they were a store exclusive Nintendo 64 game which is now the rarest N64 game of all time. One thing is for sure, you can not play any of these games, and you most likely never will. So, join us as we look into the lost gems of video game history.
This game launched in November of 2010. It had its own website in which you played an RPG game. You would walk around as a character and play games throughout that would be about some of the stories in the bible, you could collect coins and buy other clothes for your character. No one knows what happened to this game and why it was taken down. One day, no one knows when exactly either, the site was just unreachable. Now if you go to the website, it has ads for other bible games in German, but that is all that is on it. It seems like a standard German spam website that would scare a child. You can still watch gameplay for it on The Big Bible Towns Youtube channel.
This game was released back in 2009 and was an adaptation of the game show 1 vs 100. It was free to anyone who had Xbox Live Gold. One person would answer trivia questions against “the mob” to compete for Microsoft points. As a player, you could be the one, part of the mob or a spectator in the ‘crowd”. However, the only time you could play was during special playtime hours. Unfortunately, due to the game not drawing enough attention for its budget, it was canceled after season two. The only way to play the game now is on a hacked version of the game on Xbox 360, however, you will have literally nothing to do because it is an online, multiplayer game.
Tiger Electronics released one of the earliest forms of handheld gaming and was founded in 1978. Each handheld console played only one game, but there were tons of these systems released to the public. That being said, there are plenty of tiger handhelds you can find online, but there are some which have been completely lost to time as there is not an official list of every one ever made. The most expensive known version is the 1994 Beavis and Butthead “This Game Rules!” Still, there are several handheld systems that can run you a few hundred bucks.
This is less of a video game, and instead similar to the popular My Pokemon Ranch for the Wii, which gave a player extra space for their Pokemon. It was only available online for a short period, and at the Pokemon Center in New York for about 6 months. People who were lucky enough to snag a copy can make a quick $1,000 off the game, making it the rarest Pokemon game, and you will never get to play it.
This game was never released to the public. It was a game for new employees to McDonald’s, only in Japan. Nintendo and Mcdonalds came together in 2010 and made a game for new employees on the Nintendo DS, to help them learn the job. No one knows how many of these games are actually out there. It took years of research for the one person on the internet that did have it to learn how to even get into the game and took him nearly 7 years to figure out the password. After the cutscene finishes from when you start the game, you have to put in a password, but seeing how each password was set up by each individual McDonald’s restaurant, there is no saying what the code could be. Recently they have found it and there is now a video of gameplay, but we still do not know if there are any more McDonalds training games out there or not, and if there are, how many?
You can still play Mario kart Wii, but you cannot play it online. So technically it is not missing, but honestly, what is the point of playing Mario kart if you cannot play with other people? So no, it is not missing, you can still find it (not for less than fifty dollars), but you really cannot play it. Unless you just want to play by yourself, with computers, but that would get pretty boring after a race or two, don’t you think? Maybe if it is for someone younger, whose parents do not really want them playing online. But if you want to play some real Mario kart, you cannot play this one. This game is just one of many which were screwed due to Nintendo’s questionable business strategies.
Clayfighter Sculptor’s Cut is an updated version of the earlier release, ClayFighter 63 ⅓ The game was made for the Nintendo 64 console, and was only available as a rental through Blockbuster Video in North America. While the game itself is not technically the rarest game out there, the box and manual to the game are considered even more valuable than the game itself. The reason being that most Blockbusters either lost or damaged the original boxes. The box and manual without the game will fetch over $1,000!
