This Microwave Fudge Recipe Will Taste Just Like A Candy Store’s

Fudge is definitely an underrated dessert. There are so many variations of flavors, yummy add-ons, and even multiple ways of preparing and cooking the treat. Traditional fudge recipes can be a little more involved than most people are willing to get, however. There’s good news, though! There are dozens of fudge recipes out there that are actually beyond simple and that you can make in the microwave. It can be difficult to try and make fudge that lives up to the wonderful taste that you can find in a candy store, but we have a simple, microwave fudge recipe that will mimic the amazing flavor!

1. Start with the best flavor

We’re going to go with a good ole’ traditional chocolate flavor for this recipe. However, there are plenty of other flavors you can make including vanilla and peanut butter (my personal favorite) if you’re not feeling like eating chocolate fudge.

To make the chocolate flavor obviously you’ll need a chocolate base. Take anywhere between 2 & 1/2  to 3 cups of semisweet chocolate chips, depending on how strong of a chocolaty flavor you’re going to want, and put them into a microwave safe bowl. Throw in a pinch of salt and/ or espresso powder to really make the chocolate essence shine.

2. Add the ingredients

You’ll need to add a can of sweetened condensed milk next. These usually come in cans with either 14 or 16 oz in them, and either one will work for this recipe. Pour that into the bowl with the chocolate chips and get out your butter, 1/4 cup of butter to be precise, and add it into the bowl as well.

3. Cook it up

Now comes the microwave part of the microwave fudge recipe. Put the bowl in the microwave and cook it in 30 second intervals. Any longer and you run the risk of scorching the chocolate, then your fudge will be nasty and not worth eating at all. Between each 30 second interval, use a rubber spatula to stir up the ingredients. When they’re all fully incorporated, meaning that the mixture is smooth and pours evenly, is when you know you’re done.

4. Finishing touches

That’s right, all the “difficult” stuff is officially done! Now, pour the mixture into a baking pan lined with parchment paper (so that the fudge doesn’t stick to the pan). Set the pan into the fridge and leave it until it’s set. Normally I like to wait overnight just to be totally sure that it’s done. Then, you can take it out and cut it up into cute little one inch squares!

5. Yummy additions

There are a lot of things you can add on top of your fudge to make it even better if you want. One of the most popular additions is a sweet caramel sauce with chunks of sea salt. Any kind of sauce would need to be put on after the fudge has completely cooled off. Any other additions like marshmallows, peanut butter cups, m&m’s, and brownie bits can be gently sprinkled on top just before the fudge finishes setting up.

6. Other options

There are tons of microwave fudge recipes out there that taste super delicious, and this one will definitely taste just like one from a candy store! In case you’re looking for a peanut butter version, though, you can click here. And if you’re more of a vanilla fudge kind of person there’s an awesome recipe you can check out right here!
