8 Makeup Styles to Wear With Your Mask

Masks are normal for all of us nowadays and though we may not completely like the idea of having to wear them, they are definitely a necessity in today’s society. To spice things up while wearing your mask is by playing with your makeup routine. Here are 8 ways to style your makeup with your mask!

1. Start with skincare

Before we get into the fun of makeup, it’s good to note that skincare is vital to any beautiful makeup look, especially if you have been wearing a mask often. When you don’t have to wear a mask it is better to take it off and let the skin breathe. Especially at night.

Start with really cleansing the face. If you are wearing a mask all day, you should immediately pull out the makeup remover once you get home! Our faces will build up bacteria faster when wearing a mask because of all the humidity from breathing into an enclosed space.

You should then continue with a serum and moisturizer to replenish the lost moisturize. If you are able to do a face mask and exfoliate at least 2-3 times per week, then your skin will thank you in the long run. Lastly, don’t forget that washing your mask is a MUST for keeping your skin happy and healthy.

2. Foundation and Concealer

Wearing a lot of makeup was pre-covid but now that we have to wear a mask all the time our makeup routines have definitely changed. Starting with the base of the face. What we have learned about having a global pandemic is that there are many things that just don’t matter as much. One of them being the amount of makeup we actually wear. Try toning down the foundation and concealer just a bit. Embrace the natural look by focusing first on skincare and then applying makeup where you need it. You can even avoid it on the lower half of your face if you are wearing your mask all day long. You don’t want to increase the chances of having clogged pores, do you?!

3. Winged eyeliner

It doesn’t matter if you wore a winged eyeliner before or after wearing a mask was a “thing”, but today’s the day to try it out! Since eyes are one of the only focal points to our faces while wearing a mask, it’s important to try to play it up.

There are many different types of winged eyeliner. If you are bolder try a  thicker wing, or perhaps in a different color such as electric blue! If you are more of a simple person, doing a thin wing or a wing in a more natural shade such as brown will give you the look you are wanting. You can even experiment with different types of “tools” to give you the look you’re trying to achieve. Have fun with felt tip liquid liners, or feathered ones. You could even try using an angled brush and dipping it into a gel for your wing! The possibilities are endless!

4. Play with color

If you have been afraid to play with color, then the time to try it is now! Try wearing different eyeshadow shades to spruce things up. If you were afraid to wear purple, go for it. If you were not sure if blue would really work for you, who cares. GO FOR IT. It’s time to see what makes you excited and who knows maybe you will find the perfect color that makes your eyes pop like no other.

5. Brows

Eyebrows are something that we are learning that is very important to the face. They frame your face to give you the exact look you are trying to achieve. They also frame your beautiful eyes in a way that makes them stand out more. If you haven’t gotten comfortable with really having a great brow game, then it’s time to try it out! Look up YouTube tutorials to help you with learning how to do your eyebrows. There are plenty of ways to learn how to do them the way you like, it just takes a little bit of practice. Once you have gotten your eyebrows how you wanted, you are a changed person FOREVER.

6. Lashes

Although makeup has been turned down this year, it doesn’t mean our lashes have to suffer. Having great lashes opens up the eyes. It gives life to the windows of our souls! It changes the game completely. Even when you don’t wear makeup, and you have your lashes done you still will look amazing.

Figure out which lash style works best for you! If you are more natural, using just mascara in black or brown might work best for you. You could even try a blue mascara to add boldness to your look. Another way you can add a bit more flare for the naturals out there is by getting individual lashes and gluing a few on the outer corners of your eyes. This will give you a beautiful cat-eye effect that will look extremely natural.

If you are the type to add more of the glitz and glam to your eyelash game, buying eyelash strips will do just the trick! Depending on your style, you can pick the perfect eyelashes for you! If you want more of a dramatic look, get thicker lashes. If you want a “natural” look there are lashes for that too! If strip lashes aren’t your thing either and you desire a low maintenance effort, perhaps getting your lashes done professionally will do you justice. This is great if you want to wake up feeling beautiful!

Since the upper half of our skin will be showing, a great thing to try out is a highlighter. Even though the whole face isn’t shown while wearing a mask you can still shine like a diamond. Try out natural-looking highlighters to add a beautiful glow to the skin. You will feel stunning even on the days you don’t.
