15 Makeup Looks To Keep You Looking On-Point During Quarantine

As social distancing and quarantine continue, you may find yourself looking over at your makeup collection wondering how the dust has managed to collect on your favorite eyeshadow pallets and foundation bottles.  While seemingly recently there has been a general consensus on the lack of enthusiasm towards getting ready, this is about to change. As our mundane patterns move back towards “normal” life again, we must begin to reestablish and revitalize our everyday routine.  Therefore, it is time to dust off those pallets and pull out your favorite makeup brushes as we have 15 new looks for you to try out during quarantine and amaze people with after.

1. No-Makeup Makeup

Seemingly the most effortless form of makeup is the no-makeup makeup look.  Derived from the routines of many models and actresses the no-makeup makeup look will leave you looking glowing and refreshed.  There are many ways to achieve this look and you can modify it to fit your own needs, but essentially, no-makeup makeup involves a light base of tinted moisturizer and concealer, a liquid or cream blush, bronzer, and highlight, a mascara, brow gel, and lip oil.  Glossier is a fantastic brand to use to achieve this look.

2. Natural Cat Eye

A natural cat eye is a newer trend in makeup and can be seen on models like Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner, and Gigi Hadid.  This look elongates and pulls your eyes up, to create the illusion of an overall more lifted face.  Typically when creating a cat-eye, you would use black eyeliner.  However, this version of the cat-eye calls for the use of a chocolate brown colored eyeshadow.  Using eyeshadow allows for easier application as well as a smokier look, while the deep brown color will enhance your eye color.

3. Super Rosy Cheeks

Heavily blushed cheeks are making a comeback as seen on model Emily Ratajkowski.  Using a pink or coral shade blush, apply to the apples of your cheeks as well as your cheekbones and the tip of your nose, to achieve a sun-kissed look.  This technique is perfect for quarantine when you aren’t able to be at the pool to tan.  Additionally, this technique means there is no need for contour because you are adding dimension to your face with the blush.

4. Bronzed Glow

A bronzed glow is the ultimate go-to look in the summer, so you might as well spend time perfecting it during quarantine.  This look is all about playing up the summer tan and glow.  Using a liquid, cream, or powder bronzer, apply to your cheekbones, temples, forehead, nose, and chin.  Use the same product as an eyeshadow for a cohesive bronze.  To amp up the look, strategically place highlighter on your cheekbones, inner corners of your eyes, and the tip of your nose.  Voila, you look like you just took a week-long tropical vacation.

5. Soap Brows

Eyebrows have seen a lot of changes in the past few years.  The most recent trend is full and fluffy brows, otherwise known as soap brows.  This look can be achieved by using gel or as the name suggests, a bar of soap.  Though it sounds silly, when dampened ever so slightly, the soap will act an adhesive and laminate your brows upwards.  All you need to achieve this look is a bar of soap, something clear like Pears Original, a spoolie brush, and some water. Give it a try and see how bold and fluffy your brows look!

6. Glass Skin

Glass skin is a stunning yet effortless look derived from K-Beauty skincare trends.  This look is defined by luminous healthy skin and though a good skincare routine is the most important component to achieving this look, here are a few products you can utilize to get that haloed glow.  A light facial oil like Glossier’s Futuredew paired with a pore-filling primer and a soft liquid highlighter like Mac’s Strobe Cream will give the illusion of this coveted glass-like skin.

7. Faux Freckles

Faux freckles are an easy addition to any makeup look and add an element of “natural” beauty.  They can be applied using a few techniques.  The brand Freck Beauty has a product made specifically for faux freckle applications, but an eyebrow pencil or brown eyeliner could also be used. Faux freckle application takes time to learn and perfect so quarantine is the perfect time to begin teaching yourself.

8. Neon Pop

Add a pop of neon to your inner corner for a bright summery look.  This technique will make your eyes appear brighter and wider as well as make you look more awake.  If an inner corner neon highlight is not for you, a pop of neon can also be added into your look in winged liner or on the bottom lash line. Try experimenting with different neon shades to find the one which suits you best.

9. Bright Pink Lip

A bold bright pink lip is a simple, yet perfect summer look.  Utilize this time in quarantine to find your perfect shade of pink, or play around with different reds and corals!

10. Colorful Liner

Colorful eyeliner is back in this summer, this time pastels are all the rage.  This light periwinkle is the perfect summer shade to amp up your everyday eyeliner.  Drag the color down to your undereye, and you have a completed look that seems far more time consuming than it was.

11. Monochromatic Eye

A monochromatic eyeshadow look can either be bold or understated depending on the application and colors you choose to use.  A powder shadow often has far more pigment payoff than a creme, so if you want a more muted look, a creme shadow would be the best fit for you.  Play around with different shade and color variations to find which monochromatic look you would like to rock after quarantine.

12. Ethereal Glitter Eye

Try out this ethereal glitter eyeshadow look to fulfill your childhood dreams of being a fairy princess.  This delicate look requires only the use of a metallic creme shadow or two, and your fingers to blend.  Use shades of silver and gold to replicate this eye look, or play around with color to create your own glittery escape.  Not only is this technique time-efficient, but the use of creme shadows makes it very wearable for both your days and nights out after quarantine.

13. Bold Smokey Eye

The smokey eye is a classic, and if you haven’t mastered it yet, quarantine is the perfect time to learn.  The key to perfecting this look is gradually getting lighter as you move away from your eye.  Also, blending out and smudging the eyeliner on your bottom lashline adds additional depth.  Try adding a black glitter shade to the center of your eyelid for an extra pop!

14. Rainbow Eyes

Playing around with color is not only fun, but a bright eyelid will undoubtedly catch everyone’s eye.  It is important to remember though when experimenting with color eyeshadow, the pallet you use matters.  The more pigmented the shadows are, the brighter your overall look will turn out to be.  Morphe has a wide array of affordable, high-quality pallets to choose from and they’re conveniently sold at Ulta.

15. Graphic Liner

Graphic liner is like getting both eyeliner and eyeshadow done in one step.  You can create a colorful cat eye, define your crease with floating liner, or simply create an abstract design on your lid; It’s truly whatever you want it to be.  The key to a precise application of graphic liner is finding the right liquid liner.  Sephora Collection, L’Oréal, and Fenty Beauty have some worth the try.  Play around with color but don’t forget about black and white! A negative space look, done with black eyeliner, will elevate your style while making you look red carpet ready.
