How To Transition Your Skincare Routine From Winter To Spring

Although you normally follow the same steps throughout your skincare routine, you may make a few changes every season. The changes you make in your skincare routine are probably the most significant from winter to spring. That’s because the two seasons are so different and so are the effects they have on your skin. Your skin usually a lot drier in the winter and spring is the time to help return to a more moisturized state. If you’re looking for a way to transition your skincare routine from winter to spring, you’ve come to the right place! Here are a few tips on how to make the transition in the spring.

1. Change your face wash

If you were using a more moisturizing face wash during the winter, you might want to switch it out for the spring. As it warms up, skin sometimes get oilier. In that case, you might want to reach for something that has a heavier focus on reducing excess oil or something that will mattify your skin. You also might want to try reaching for a purifying face wash since excess oil can clog up your pores.

2. Lighten up your products

Your winter skincare routine probably consisted of your heaviest moisturizing creams and other products with thick consistencies. The winter weather has a way of drying out you skin, and heavy products can be great for combating that. However, unless you suffer from extremely dry skin all year long, you won’t need those thick holy grail products in the spring. During your skincare transition, try incorporating more light weight products like gel moisturizers instead of cream ones.

3. Exfoliate!

You should always include exfoliating in your skincare routine, but if you skipped out on that step during the winter you definitely need to pick it back up in the spring. Exfoliating helps get rid of dead skin, and since the winter most likely produced a lot of dry dead skin, you’ll need to exfoliate it away. You can pick from a physical or chemical exfoliator, or both. Exfoliating is a great way to transition your skincare routine from winter to spring.

4. Include sunscreen

Sunscreen is something that you need all year long, but most people assume it’s only for the summer. You might not have been using sunscreen often during the winter, so you should add it to your spring skincare routine. Transition your skincare routine by including a sunscreen at the end of your routine and before your makeup. Your skin will be so thankful for the extra protection.

5. Drink lots of water

Although you should be drinking water all day, every day, warm beverages are so much more enjoyable during the winter. So, if you’ve been slacking on your daily water intake, during your skincare routine transition is a great time to get back on track.

6. Evaluate your make up

Sometimes, make-up places a role in the way your skin acts. The products you use in the winter might not be suitable for the spring. They might be too thick and clog your pores, causing you to breakout. So, to transition your skincare routine from winter to spring, try going through your makeup products and see which ones aren’t that great for the spring.
