How to Look for Romantic Compatibility in a Chart

Do you have a crush? Sounds like you do. Are you trying to figure out if that person is just a Karmic Relationship or your Twin Flame? Take a look at both birth charts. Trigger warning; you might have to ask for the time they were born…It is all worth it, I promise! Once you have entered all the information; Place of Birth, Birthdate, Time… you will get information regarding what signs shape their identity and what placement they fall under, regardless of the app you are using (I recommend AstroFuture because it will give you a more detailed description), for example:

  • Sun- Sagittarius
  • Moon- Cancer
  • Mercury- Capricorn
  • Venus- Sagittarius
  • Mars- Gemini
  • Jupiter- Pisces
  • Saturn- Aquarius
  • Uranus- Taurus
  • Neptune- Pisces
  • Pluto- Capricorn

But what does it all mean? In case you didn’t know, Astrology is merely the study of the sky or, as the good ol’ Oxford Dictionary would say: astrology/əˈsträləjē/ is “the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial bodies interpreted as having an influence on human affairs and the natural world.” Summing up, astrologists believe that planets affect one’s circumstances, the path of life, and identity. But how do we identify that? How does that help you find romantic compatibility in the chart? Every planet has its meaning and influence on your life, but these are the most important ones to pay attention to when analyzing relationships:

The Moon

The Moon is ruled by Cancer, the crybaby of the Zodiac; just kidding, though it is true that this sign is often characterized as emotional and in touch with emotions. That is also the symbology behind the Moon; it represents our shadow self. Every Moon placement has unique characteristics; you just have to figure out what works in your life. These are the following placements and their love languages:

  • Moon in Aries: Physical Touch
  • Moon in  Taurus: Acts of Service
  • Moon in Gemini: Words of Affirmation
  • Moon in Cancer: Physical Touch
  • Moon in Leo: Words of Affirmation
  • Moon in Virgo: Quality Time
  • Moon in Libra: Receiving Gifts
  • Moon in Scorpio: Acts of Service
  • Moon in Sagittarius: Quality Time
  • Moon in Capricorn: Receiving Gifts
  • Moon in Aquarius: Quality Time
  • Moon in Pisces: Physical Touch

Venus

As you can see, every placement rules a specific area in your life and your crush’s life. So when it comes to relationships, situationships, and other shapes and forms of love, you’ll need to pay attention to what sign rules of your Venus. Someone’s Venus placement indicates the way they navigate romantic feelings. But how do you know you guys are the perfect match? You have to make sure that your partner’s or romantic interest has a Venus placement that balances yours, and that balance is found in Sister signs. But what are they?

Sister Signs in Venus

  • Aries & Libra
  • Taurus & Scorpio
  • Gemini & Sagittarius
  • Pisces & Virgo
  • Aquarius & Leo
  • Cancer & Capricorn

Sister signs are often described as opposite signs. Wouldn’t that add a lot of trouble (and spice) to the relationship? It could but don’t you want an evergrowing relationship where you can learn things every day about one another and yourself? If you are not ready for that kind of seriousness in relationships, don’t worry, there is another route you can take. But if you are willing to take this route, just know that it will feel as if your partner is holding a mirror, which will reflect what makes you, YOU! Which could be a good thing, right? Depends on your willingness to grow and evolve as an individual because some of your best-hidden truths could be uncovered throughout.

Rising Sign

Remember I asked you for your crush’s specific birth time? Now, you don’t want to mess up this because the answers can affect the romantic compatibility test. The Rising Sign is also known as the Ascendant because it symbolizes the Sun rising from the Eastern hemisphere, and its position changes every two hours. With that time window being so small, it is essential to have an accurate time because it’s not the same having a Capricorn rising as opposed to having a Gemini rising (no further explanation needed). Moreover, the Rising’s relevance in compatibility is interconnected with the other person’s Venus and vice-versa. This combination of chart aspects is what astrologers call Synastry, which means there is an innate attraction between one’s Venus and the counterpart Rising would point out the perfect match, or vice versa. An example of an ideal match would be one person with a Pisces Rising and the other with a Pisces Venus.

Astrology, more specifically, your birth chart, is a tool that will help you with your interpersonal relationships and create a different perspective on a problem, this time being a matter of the heart. It could be possible that you could be dating someone that you are not 100% compatible with, astrological speaking. Regardless, this tool will provide you a deeper understanding of your partner’s behavior, so don’t give up on them; relationships take a lot of work. Always keep in mind the three pillars of compatibility; Inner feelings (the Moon), How does my crush navigate such romantic feelings? (Venus), and One’s identity (Rising/Ascendant). Despite those being the key aspects of romantic compatibility, the rest of the chart is also essential when trying to understand your (future) partner. If you want to dig deep, you should know what each planet symbolizes: The Sun represents personality, Mercury is for communication, Mars represents conflict, Jupiter is associated with skills, and Saturn has a lot of meanings, but the most interesting one is maturity, Neptune can represent an ideology, Pluto is associated with power, Chiron can give you an insight on spirituality, and the Lilith placement can uncover sex kinks…

Whether you are looking for someone or want to enhance your relationship, you can always look for romantic compatibility in your chart. Despite that, compatibility is important, but loving yourself will always be the key to anyone’s heart.
