How To Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day When You Have Midterms Coming Up

Do you love St. Patrick’s Day but you absolutely need to stay in your dorm room to study for midterms or get that paper written? Here are some ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day even if you are stuck studying and researching.

A Four-Leaf Clover On Your Desk

Need some luck on St. Patrick’s Day? Or any day prior to midterms? Get a four-leaf clover and put it on your desk. It doesn’t even need to be real.

It would probably be even better if it’s not real so you don’t have to worry about throwing it away once it withers.

Wear Green

One of the easiest things you can to do celebrate St. Patrick’s Day is to wear anything green. The more green the more in the spirit you will be.

If you’re by yourself, then try to wear green in the areas on your body that you will see the most yourself. This includes shirts, bracelets, rings, pants.

Pants more for when you are resting your head on the edge of your desk after your brain almost explodes from staring at words all night and you see your pants for the first time in hours. The green will give you a new color to look at for a few minutes before you have to go to back to look at black and white.

Pint of Guinness

Enjoy one pint of Guinness, or any alcohol of your choice if you’re not a fan of Guinness after you finish that midterm paper or finish up studying for the night.

Not only will the alcohol be a nice reward for all the hard work you did, it will help you sleep as you close your eyes after a long day and night of constant studying and or writing.

Just make sure not to drink too much. You need to be able to remember what you just studied.

Before you do indulge yourself, make sure that you have something to eat before or during drinking so the alcohol doesn’t hit your bloodstream too hard.

And if you are under 21, find a drink that is green that you love and enjoy it the same. Your time will come when you can legally drink with everyone.

Eat Irish Food While You Study

A great way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day is to enjoy some traditional Irish food. Chances are that your campus might be serving something Irish on or around this day.

There are even better chances that they won’t be serving something made with lamb. So while you might not be getting to the full experience, you won’t have to worry about your stomach reacting weirdly to lamb or mutton. Especially when you haven’t eaten it before.

Some of the best foods you can eat while studying would be some of the Irish breads. They aren’t very messy as long as you don’t mind a few crumbs here and there. Or if you don’t want Irish food at all, anything dyed green might suffice.

Put Up St. Patrick’s Day Decorations

Nothing can make you happier and more focused on the end than seeing a rainbow with a pot of gold at the end. Just imagine that the gold is either the end of the semester or the diploma you will get after all your hard work.

You can even go a step further and use green markers or pencils as you study to help you get into the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day. If you don’t plan on moving around the room very much on this day, then narrow the radius of the decorations to the places you will go.

Deck it out with four-leaf clovers, pots of gold, leprechauns, rainbows, etc. You can even decorate your bathroom if your roommates are okay with that. This is also considering that you are only sharing a bathroom with a few other people.

Stores will have handsoaps shaped like pots of gold, and lights that shine green. You can also put fake pots of gold in the bathroom in the corners or put up four-leaf clovers on the walls that can be easily taken off without taking the paint off.

The last part is important since you want to do everything you can to avoid damaging the room in any way. You don’t want to be fined at the end of the semester for damages to the room or bathroom.

Have Limited Edition Candies To Snack On

Mint M&Ms? Green any other candy? The sugar will help you through the tiredness of staying up for hours researching, studying, and writing.

Be aware of the sugar crash that you might get though. Eating a few candies every ten minutes might keep you from crashing long enough for the paper to be written, the flashcards to be combed through, or the page to be done being read.

Even if you don’t like candy, certain cereal brands have green-dyed marshmallows in them or other parts of their cereal dyed green for the holiday. Not only will you get to see a flash of green before it goes into your mouth, you will get a tasty treat on top of that!

If you choose the candies or snacks that are limited edition, you will feel a sense of happiness as you get the chance to enjoy the rarity of the flavors. Some might be repeats from years past, and some might be completely new to this year.

No matter what it is, enjoy every piece of it while your brain gets filled with knowledge and you fill the pages with expertise that you gained just a few minutes ago from whatever scholarly article you just read.
