Either you watched HGTV willingly, or your Mom refused to change the channel at dinner… From 2007 to 2013, you watched interior designers face-off for the chance at a complete life makeover. While some of the 8 have taken-on more of a TV personality role than interior designer, all have remained relevant and are successful to this day. We begin the countdown at the most recent season.
Tiffany Brooks
Tiffany loves to mix lights and darks into her work, no matter how subtle her choices may be. Since winning HGTV’s last season of Design Star in 2013, Tiffany hosted The Most Embarrassing Rooms In America, which lasted for 1 season. Tiffany remains an outspoken advocate for the lack of People Of Color in the interior design business today. She is based out of Chicago and currently runs Tiffany Brooks Interiors Inc.

Danielle Colding
Danielle Colding has been dropping the jaws of her clients well before she won the 2012 season of HGTV Design Star. Today, Danielle works out of NYC within the reaches of her own firm danielle holding design, inc. Danielle hosted Shop This Room on HGTV for one season. Her love for modernism bleeds into her work, as her goal is to create minimalistic, yet warm living spaces.

Meg Caswell
Two years after her big win as HGTV’s 2011 Design Star, Meg Caswell battled an advanced form of breast cancer. During her fight, she hosted 2 seasons of Meg’s Great Room, which ran 18 episodes long. She currently manages her own design firm out of Chicago, IL. Meg keeps her rooms lively with plenty of light and elegant patterned fabrics.

Emily Henderson
Emily Henderson matches unlikely colors in her designs. She does so in a seamless fashion, that has brought her more success than the average HGTV Design Star. She is an author, owner of her own firm, blogger, Insta Famous, and has been interviewed many times on well-known magazines that include Good Housekeeping, RedBook and InStyle. Emily uses her own home as her “Style laboratory”, to eventually tear down and recreate spaces.

Antonio Ballatore
Antonio Ballatore’s “Go Big Or Go Home” motto helped him gain the HGTV Design Star Title in 2009. He hosted 3 seasons of the HGTV original The Antonio Treatment and is currently on-air with his new TV show Animal Cribs, on Animal Planet. Jennifer Bertrand
Jennifer Bertrand’s success did not end as HGTV’s 2008 Design Star. In 2016, she won another design contest hosted by Angie’s List. She has brought her clean and rustic style abroad, and has been a featured guest on several TV shows, including Ellen. She hosted the HGTV show Paint Over! for one season. Today, she hosts podcasts and specializes in designing rooms for those in particular need of them: cancer patients and military families. Get jealous by visiting her website.

Kim Myles
While Kim hosted her first HGTV show Myles of Style for 3 seasons, she went on to host 4 more shows, including Home Made Simple, on the OWN Network, which won her the Emmy for Best Daytime Lifestyle Program. Today Kim Myles travels all over as a speaker on how ‘the perfect style’ is not what any of us will ever achieve or should even conceive to achieve. Kim won her HGTV Design Star title with that rosy personality of her’s, and her ability to use loud colors to create relaxing spaces. See her work and career on her website.

David Bromstad
Don’t act like you don’t know this guy. It was love at first sight in 2007, when David walked onto our screens and into our hearts soon-thereafter. He wow-ed us not only with his signature paintings in each room he created, but with his personality and use of furniture that most would deem too big for the room. David is still on HGTV today as the host of My Lottery Dream Home. Let’s not forget he also hosted a whopping 11 seasons of Color Splash! on HGTV after his 2007 win.
