Unless you have been living under a rock for the past month, you probably have heard about Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson’s engagement, along with Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin’s engagement. Now, Ariana and Pete met back in 2016 when she appeared on SNL. At the time, however, Ariana was dating Mac Miller and Pete was dating Cazzie David. Now fast forward to May 2018 – both of their relationships came to an end and before we knew it rumors were spreading that they were engaged, and then Pete confirmed it on Jimmy Fallon. Of course everyone had to make their comments on it because it’s not very often that you hear of a couple getting engaged after a month of dating. Nevertheless, the couple is clearly happy and fell in love very quickly, so who are we to judge?
Then, just as we all were beginning to recover from that news, we get hit with more, only this time it was Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin. Those two met back in 2009 when Hailey’s father, Stephen Baldwin, introduced them. They denied dating rumors for a while and insisted they were just good friends, but then went a little more public with their on-again-off-again relationship around 2016. Then, much like Ariana and Pete, the two were seen together a lot for about a month before the rumors started to spread that the couple got engaged while on vacation in the Bahamas. Then shortly after Justin confirmed the news with a loving Instagram post dedicated to Hailey. They were seen getting engaged after a month.
Could these two engagement stories be the start of a new trend – getting engaged after only a month of dating? The answer to that is unclear, although it certainly seems that way. It’s a double-edged sword because a lot of people feel that a month is way too soon to get engaged to someone. I mean, how much could you possibly know about a person in a month? However, other people feel that it’s a beautiful thing and we should all be so lucky to find such true love that quickly. I guess only time will tell how this (possible) new trend works out.
Whatever the case may be, I am a huge Bieber and Grande fan and wish both couples all the best and nothing but love and happiness. They were another couple seen getting engaged after a month.
