10 Game Day Outfits You Need To Copy

If you’re anything like me, your favorite part about college game day is choosing the perfect outfit. With our help, you can dance on elevated surfaces or master a keg stand, and look good doing it. No matter what university you go to, these game day outfits are perfect for hitting up tailgates with your BFFs. From cheerleader skirts, to football jerseys, to crop tops, we have 10 outfits that are perfect to wear for your college game day.

1. Overalls

Overalls are the perfect college game day look because, honestly, they are so comfortable. You can dance around to Mr. Brightside as aggressively as you want, and your outfit will remain flawless. Overalls are a festive, cute, and easy outfit option for rocking any tailgate.

To complete the look, layer a tube top or long sleeve shirt underneath your overalls, and style them with a fun pair of sneakers.

2. Tube Top

There is nothing cuter than a game-day tube top. It pairs perfectly with any bottoms, and it’s a girly way to show off your sporty side. You can either wear a tube top that matches your university’s colors or DIY your own from an old football T-shirt.

Game-day tube tops are a staple in any college girl’s wardrobe, so it’s best that you stock up now. To complete this game day look, pair your tube top with a skirt, denim shorts, or some fun sweatpants. Add accessories like bandanas or sunglasses for even more spirit!

3. Cheerleader Skirt

We’ve got spirit, yes we do, we’ve got spirit, how about you? While you may not be an actual cheerleader on the sidelines of the football field, why not look like one? To channel your inner “Bring it On” and sport a fun, flirty game day look, a cheerleader skirt is definitely the way to go.

What’s great about owning a cheerleader skirt is that you can style it in so many ways. I recommend pairing it with a tube top or cropped college T-shirt. Add some knee-high socks to really complete your super spirited look.

4. Denim Jacket

A denim jacket is a perfect accessory for a chilly autumn football game. You can layer it with a T-shirt when it’s warm out, or a sweatshirt when the temperature drops.

To add some more flair to your average denim jacket, try adding some college patches or painting the back of the jacket to rep your school! DIY game day jackets are super trendy right now, and it can be a fun craft to do with your friends on the night before a big tailgate.

5. Oversized T-Shirt

I am all about being comfortable while still looking good, which is why I love wearing an oversized T-shirt on game days. It’s loose, it’s easy, and it’s almost like you’re not even wearing pants.

To rock the oversized T-shirt look, be sure that your shirt is big enough to cover your butt, and wear shorts or spandex underneath so that you don’t flash your peers while your dancing on an elevated surface. Accessorize this look however you want, and pair it with sneakers or combat boots to tie everything together.

6. Jersey

Maybe you have a favorite player who’s number you want to rep, or maybe you just want to feel sporty AF. Either way, a jersey is a perfect option if you are ready to show your athletic spirit this game day.

You can either wear your jersey oversized, or you can pair it with a pair of shorts or jeans. Wear some fun sneakers to complement your athletic look, and don’t be surprised if the head coach drafts you to play in the game (I mean, how hard can catching a football be?).

7. Cut T-Shirt

For all of you artsy football fans out there: first of all, I’m extremely jealous. And second of all, put your creative talents to work by making a DIY cut T-shirt to show off your spirit!

There are so many ways in which you can cut up a college T-shirt to make it edgy and trendy. You can turn a boring, plain T-shirt into a tube top, an off-the-shoulder top, a tank top or crop top – you name it! Browse (or binge) Pinterest for some inspiration, and get creative with your DIY T-shirt.

Just be sure to watch some YouTube tutorials before you start going crazy with the scissors.

8. Flannel

I love wearing flannels on game days because they work with almost every single look. You can tie it around your waist for some cute layering, or wear it over a college T-shirt during the chillier game days.

Be sure to wear a flannel that matches your university’s colors. Most thrift stores and secondhand stores have a huge selection of flannels, so take advantage! For an even more-spirited look, add college patches to your flannel, just like the denim jacket, to be even more festive and trendy.

9. Dress

Some people take a classy, girly approach to game days and wear a stylish dress or romper to rock their team’s colors. While it may not be the best option for a muddy tailgate, a game day dress is perfect if you’re having a more relaxed pregame or going somewhere nice to watch the game.

A game day dress outfit is all about the accessories. To really show off your school spirit while still looking fashionable, add a pair of fun sunglasses, some hair accessories, or even spirited socks to complete the look.

10. Cropped Sweatshirt & Skirt

Sure, it’s a little bit weather-confused, but who cares? Wearing a cropped sweatshirt with a denim skirt or cheerleader skirt is an ideal game day look to rock at any tailgate.

Whether you’re drinking beers with frat bros, or dancing on elevated surfaces with your BFFs, this outfit is comfortable, stylish, and perfect for any game day activity that you’ll be partaking in.
