Summer Accessories That Are Truly Worth Buying

Summer accessories can be a game-changer for you this season! Here’s a list of our favorites that deserve a spot on your ‘must-buy’ list ASAP! From head to toe, these summer accessories will take your wardrobe to the next level and make you the queen of warm weather.

Floppy Hat

The key to the perfect floppy hat is the bigger the better! You can’t go wrong with a giant floppy sun hat, especially at the beach or poolside. Keeping the sun off your face is key to preventing sunburns (and skin cancer) while still looking super cute. If you’re constantly on the go, try to find a foldable one that will easily fit in your bag. Or, grab one with a cute saying on it so people know you’re serious about relaxing! No matter what style you choose, the perfect floppy hat will protect you from the sun-and haters!

Straw Bags

As far as summer accessories go, a straw bag is a must-have. Whether you opt for a small one to use as a purse or get more of a tote size for a beach catch-all, straw bags are a super cute way to look summery with all your outfits. I bought one a few summers ago and used it almost every day going to work, the pool, or to the beach to carry everything. I would even tie scarves around the handles to dress it up and make it match my outfits. You can’t go wrong!

Giant Sunglasses

These are perfect for keeping the sun AND the paparazzi at bay! Nothing says summer like blocking the rays and there is no better way to do it than with a big pair. While you can get them in any shape, there is something so perfect about a big round pair that gives you the ultimate cool-girl vibes. If the round shape isn’t your favorite, you can’t go wrong by reaching for a classic square shape. The best thing about these? They look so great in pics, you’ll want to share them all over IG all summer long.

Headscarves

Already a huge trend, headscarves are going to be your savior this summer. Bedhead? Add a scarf! Messy beach hair? Add a scarf! Haven’t washed your hair? Add a scarf! Whether you tie it to your pony, use it to keep your hair out of your face or to hide the unruliness, adding a headscarf to your outfit will instantly make you look more put together. My go-to look? A messy bun with a scarf used as a headband to keep my bangs back. It’s easy, cute and goes from the beach to dinner perfectly!

Espadrilles

What is even better than your trusty pair of flipflops? Adding a little touch of fashion and upgrading to a pair of espadrilles! From basic slip-ons that you can wear to brunch by the beach, to wedges that you can wear to the office, there is a pair out there for you! I personally love my pair of flats with the classic espadrilles bottom and lace material that make them easy to walk in but still cool and comfy. With so many styles to choose from, you can’t go wrong with adding a pair of these to your wardrobe of summer accessories!

H2O To Go

Nothing is more important than staying hydrated and with the summer sun, it’s especially important! Help yourself stay hydrated by getting a cute new water bottle that you’ll want to show off wherever you go. Whether it has a positive message on it, a cute animal, or is covered in your favorite stickers, find one that will help you remember to drink! No matter what style you choose, you’ll find that your water bottle will be your go-to accessory this summer and you can kiss dehydration goodbye!

Tote Bags

From a towel and sunblock to your bottle of water and snacks, you need a bag that can handle all the things you bring with you on your summer adventures. Tote bags are absolutely a must-have for summertime. If you’re a little rough and tumble, look for a waterproof bag or one with easy to clean material. Or, if you’re just using it to “tote” your beach stuff, grab a knotted one that will be a little easier to get the sand out when the vacay is done. No matter what, make sure the handles are sturdy so your bag can take being overpacked. You never know what you might need (orange juice and champagne anyone?)

Delicate Jewelry

I learned the hard way, on one fateful trip to the beach, that wearing chunky jewelry is a terrible idea, especially if you get sunburned. That’s why I only stick to delicate jewelry in the summertime. I swap out my thicker band rings for a collection of smaller ones that are less likely to leave a chunk of untanned skin behind and add a tiny bit of sparkle. I also swap out my necklaces for ones with smaller chains and adornments. Delicate jewelry is pretty and will add a simple shimmery touch to your already sun-kissed skin!

Swimsuit Covers

Finally, you can’t forget a wearable accessory that you won’t want to take off! Swimsuit covers range from sheer dresses to kimonos but the problem is, if you decide to leave the beach it might not cut it. That is where swimsuit cover-ups that double as cute dresses come into play. If you’re heading straight from the beach to lunch, look for a cover-up that literally covers up! Definitely stick with summer fabrics that are light and comfortable but still cover enough to get past the “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service” rule with flying colors!
