You’re probably used to getting at least one Christmas card during the holidays. You can’t help but notice, every time you take one out of the envelope, that they’re all basically the same. They all have the picture of a smiling family dressed in winter sweaters. While it’s nice for them to send one to you in the first place, you would like a little variety. The cards on the mantle above the fireplace where you always place them are looking very uniform in their similarity. Next Christmas, you’ll have to remember to ask everyone you know to send you funny Christmas cards that’ll make you laugh.
Tasked with making a funny Christmas card, your friend and their family sends you a card with a picture of everyone in matching pajamas. They’re not just wearing regular pajamas, though. The pajamas are so ridiculous that you’re sure that your friend found the worst looking ones they could buy. The pajamas are bright blue and are covered with little yellow ducks which make everyone in the picture look like they’re five years old. To top it off, your friend and their family have Santa hats on. After laughing at the card for a bit, you deem that the Christmas season is off to an excellent start.
Parents tied up
You have a cousin who lives up in Michigan who always sends out a cute, but traditional, Christmas card every year. There is no reason to expect anything different this year so, when you open the card from them, you’re surprised and delighted to see that they’re changing things up a bit. This year the picture is of their daughter tying your cousin and their spouse up while attempting to send their little newborn baby sister back to Santa. What a creative idea, and one that you’re sure many children dream of doing! One less kid means more gifts, right?
Photos with reindeer antlers
Your brother knows that you’re hoping for at least one funny or out of the ordinary Christmas card this year, so he’s going to make your holiday wish come true, but in his own way. See, he’s kind of a cool guy and would never do something that would make him look too ridiculous. So, what he came up with was to hold up two reindeer antlers to his head, which everyone else in his family replicated. You must admit that the card is still unique and fun, while at the same time showing how cool your brother is.
A Grinch themed card
In case you never receive a funny Christmas card this season, you made everyone in your immediate family dress up as characters from How the Grinch Stole Christmas. You, of course, must be the Grinch, and your children can be some Whos from Whoville. Unfortunately, it’d be too hard to make a costume similar to what Jim Carrey wore in the live adaptation, so you decide to just buy a green suit. As for everyone else, you choose to simply make their hair into wacky shapes like in the movie. You’d do their noses too, but you’re not sure how to do that.
Bored/slash angry family
Everyone is familiar with the arguments during family photo shoots. There always seems to be at least one child who either has their eyes closed or isn’t smiling. Terry, your next door neighbor, sent you a Christmas card this year with this exact concept. A month or so ago, his whole family came in from out of town for a few days and, during that time, they decided to get their card done. After numerous difficulties, they all finally decided to make a card that would express their frustrations, but in a positive way. This Christmas card is what they eventually came up with.
You ever see those old fashioned photos of people posing really awkwardly? What were they thinking, right? Everyone in your family always laughs at those photos, and Tina, your younger sister, came up with the ingenious idea to model her Christmas card after one. She and her husband shopped for the ugliest Christmas clothes they could find, and then went out to a photography studio to get their picture done professionally. When you first opened the card, you couldn’t believe what you were looking at!
Funny picture with Santa
Every year, it’s a tradition in many families to get their picture with the Santa Claus at the local mall. These photos are sometimes, but not very often, chosen to go on a Christmas card, but they’re usually reserved for the personal photo collection. Not so with your best friend Kathy. After asking Santa for a baby last year, she returned to his plastic workshop at the mall to thank and get a picture with him. Since you haven’t had the opportunity to see Kathy in a while, this Christmas card was both funny and surprising. You had no idea she was pregnant. As soon as you got the card, you called Kathy to congratulate her!
A modern family Christmas
Christmastime is just not like what it used to be in those old movies. Everyone’s always on their phone or computer and they all refuse to spend time with the family. Everyone always pretends otherwise in the photos they send out in Christmas cards, but you know that strife is just below the surface. This year, your boss decided to reveal the truth by sending out a Christmas card with their family all on their phones. Everyone is supposed to be helping set up the tree, but they’re too busy taking selfies to do much!
A cute baby
Your sister Mackenzie had a baby very recently, and they’ve been doting on her ever since (it’s their first child). She always sends you pictures of the baby either sitting in the high-chair eating, watching TV, or reading one of the classics. You’ve been a little excited to see what they’re going to do for their Christmas card. It’s pretty obvious that they’re going to have the baby do something cute, but you’re not sure what. When the card finally arrives, it’s the sweetest picture of the baby laying in a crib lined in white fur next to a stuffed bunny!
Dreaming of gifts
Everybody, yourself included, always wonders what they’re going to get for Christmas. Your cousin, Tim, always puts a lot of effort into his Christmas cards. This year, after contemplating what to do for his family’s Christmas card, he has decided to take a picture of everyone thinking about what they want most. The picture is very nicely done (as usual), with everyone dressed pretty decently. The thought bubbles were a really nice idea since they show a little bit of everyone’s personality.
