Fun Exercises To Try When Your Exercise Routine Feels Like A Chore

When your exercise routine begins to feel like a chore, it’s hard to stay motivated and keep moving. What you need is a change in your routine! Take a break from the treadmill or that smelly gym and try these fun exercises that will keep you moving and motivated all summer long!

1. Rollerblade or Rollerskate

Rollerblading or rollerskating is one of the best exercises for your butt and thighs! It targets muscles in your legs and butt in a new way, which tones and defines those muscles after enough repetition. Work out your muscles, get outside, and try fun exercises while doing so! You can rollerblade around the block, the beach, or even go out with a few friends to a roller rink! Plus, roller skates and roller blades are a super cute accessory to rock in the summertime!

2. Swim

Who doesn’t love to swim in the summertime? Turn pool time into exercise time by swimming a few laps, trying water aerobics, or teaching yourself some new strokes. Swimming works almost every muscle in your body, and keeps you cool at the same time! Try changing up your swimming routine and incorporate some fun exercises into your pool time to really tone up! Maybe you can get some friends to try it out with you, and you can even use this as an excuse to purchase a new swimsuit while you’re at it!

3. Hike

Summertime is the perfect time to check out the natural scenery around you in full bloom. Do some research on parks near you and get a group of friends together for a hike! Not only is hiking an excellent form of cardio, but it works your legs muscles and your core while getting you outside and helping you enjoy some fresh air. Plus, no more sweaty gym smell, and maybe a new pair of shoes while you’re at it!

4. Soul Cycle

Now, I know there are many mixed feelings about soul cycle – some love it, some hate it, and some are on the fence about motivational quotes and loud music while exercising. Whatever your feelings are, I recommend you give soul cycle a try! Classes can be a bit pricey, but when you really need a change in your fitness routine – and when you maybe need to hear some motivational sayings – soul cycle may be just what you are looking for.

5. Take Your Neighborhood Dogs For a Walk

Dog walking may remind you of what you did in sixth grade to earn a few extra bucks, but it can be an awesome summer workout too! Who doesn’t want to get fit AND spend time with dogs while they’re at it? Not only does dog walking get you outside, but it keeps you entertained and may even help you earn some spare cash. Walk at a brisk pace or jog alongside them to get your cardio on and your heart rate up!

6. Beach Volleyball

Get your tan on, have some fun in the sun, hang out with friends, and burn calories all at the same time! Beach volleyball is a fun exercise you absolutely have to try this summer. Running around in the sand is harder than it seems, so consider your cardio fix for the day complete. Just prepare for your legs to be sore and sandy for the next few days!
