10 Fashion Trends That Are Made For The Lazy Girl

Keeping up with the latest fashion trends can be exhausting, and trying to execute them can prove even more tiresome. Luckily for lazy girls, fashion trends these days have become more practical and accepting of more causal looks.

1. Athleisure

Athlesiure has become the pinnacle of a twenty somethings wardrobe. Even those of us (myself very much included) who don’t workout. Athleisure has taken over and we’ve replaced our jeans and tees with leggings and sports bras. And everyone is loving it. Leggings are the perfect option for running to the grocery, being able to sit comfortably in a three hour lecture and not suffocating in your jeans, or even dressing up with a long sweater and boots for winter.

Athleisure has a lot of looks to it so it’s super simple to pull off. Leggings and matching sports bras, bike shorts and a long tee, leggings and a cropped tee, bike shorts and a hoodie.Basically anything you wear to the gym you can make an easy outfit with, throw on a hat to cover up that dry shampoo and you’ll look put together!

What was once considered a gym only item is now a staple in every girls closet. With so many different types and colors the possibilities of a polished yet comfy look. You can still look cute but in reality you just rolled out of bed. Athleisure is everyones friend, it’s a flattering look but also super easy to pull off. Leggings, gym shoes and a tee shirt are all that’s needed for this look and most people already have these in their closet. You’re looking cute, comfy and on trend.

2. Matching Sets

One of the biggest struggles with staying on top of fashion trends and being a lazy girl is figuring out what pieces of clothing matches. You may have some really cute stuff but not enough time or energy to go through your closet. Matching sets are there to save your day. Matching sets are so on trend right now that most clothing stores have a specific section for them online. Whether its a floral skirt and shirt set or a crop top and wide legged pants set, it’s there to make your life easier. They’re super cute and on trend but you don’t have to worry about finding the right top to go with that obscure patterned pant you have cause the designer did it for you. Throwing on a jacket or scarf to add a little flare to the outfit is a simple way to take this trend to the next level and make it your own.

Matching sets can also come in a more casual look, for the ultimate lazy girl. Think Gym Shark leggings and crop top, except you can find cute ones without spending all that money. Any store that sells casual apparel has gotten all over this, most when you go in you’ll even see displayed the matching tops and bottoms if you something not as dressy as the matching skirt and crop combo.

3. Sweatsuits

This is not 2003, and Paris Hilton and her Gucci velour track suit are not coming back. However, sweatsuits are but in a much more fashionable look than before. Sweatsuits are the ultimate lazy girl fashion trend, these are comfortable and cozy for running errands but not looking like a total disaster. These can be found at pretty much any retailer nowadays, but Pink and Aerie have perfected the look. Having a perfectly matching sweatpants and sweatshirt really makes you feel like you have your life together a little better when heading to brunch hungover. Easy to thrown on and not even think about what you’re wearing. Sweatpants and a matching crop top are taking this could be frumpy look to a cute look that shows a little skin. Those giant dad sneakers everyone obsession over now will pair perfect with this cozy look. The sweatsuit is the outfit you didn’t know you needed until you have it.

4. Graphic Tees

Graphic tees are a perfect way to show off something you’re passionate about and an easy way to start a conversation with someone. Because they’re a tee shirt they are super comfy but they also can pair well with leggings or jeans and a sweater if you want to dress it up a little. I’ve become obsessed with graphic tees because I love showing off things I’m passionate about. So, if I have even a slightly mild obsession, you better believe I have the graphic tee to back it up. Just today I’ve been tagged in three instagram posts about graphic tees for the show FRIENDS cause one can never have enough FRIENDS tees.

My favorite look for graphic tees is pairing them with jeans, they look a little nicer than wearing with leggings but you’re also still comfortable. Since jeans match pretty much  everything you’ll never have to worry if your obscure obsession tee shirt matches your jeans.

5. Paperbag Pants

This look is a little bit nicer of a look than the ones above, but the nice thing about it is it’s just as comfy and on trend as the rest. Paperbag pants are typically linen and loose so they’re ideal for when you woke up late but got a meeting to go to. They can still look professional and polished the same way they can look cute and comfy. Pairing these with a button up for the office ensures that you’ll look good but not be annoyed by your pants cutting off your circulation all day. They’re also great as an alternative when sweats are too casual and jeans are uncomfortable. Most are high waisted so they look super cute with crop tops or a body suit. Getting neutral colors ensures you’ll always be able to find a top to match but don’t be afraid to branch out and go for an olive green or burgundy for a bolder look.

6. Jumpsuit/Romper

Jumpsuits and rompers have taken over in the past few years and there are jumpsuits and rompers for every occasion possible. There’s a jumpsuit/romper version of pajamas, casual days out, wedding attire, formal wear. You name it, there’s a jumpsuit for it. The beauty of jumpsuits and rompers is that you only have to worry about one piece of clothing. Who needs the hassle of a top and bottom when you can have it all in one? Jumpsuits and rompers have always been the solution when I can’t figure out what to wear. They’re dressier that shorts and a shirt but can still keep you cool in the summer. And for winter they can be just as nice as a dress but cover your legs you haven’t shaved in three weeks. (or months, no judgement). They are perfect for traveling so that you can just pack one item that takes up less room instead of two, and they’re easy to dress up with jewelry and heels or make casual with sneakers. These are some of the most versatile items out there, so investing in a few will save you time but keep you looking cute.

7. Banana Clip

Rachel Green wore it best and anything she wears, I also wear. Banana clips in your hair are the easiest way to make your hair look good but also not waste your time. If I’m ever having a bad hair day I toss it up into a banana clip for a dressier look than what a ponytail gives. And unlike a bun, I don’t feel the tension of my hair being twisted when its in a clip. I am really bad at hair styling, I can’t even curl my own hair so if my hair needs to be styled and my natural hair isn’t doing it, banana clip it is.

They dress up a look and can even be worn with formal wear. It’s perfect for when you want your hair out of your face but don’t want to be able to see your scalp. Nothing is worse than ponytail headache to switch out your ponytails for banana clips for a fashion trend perfect for the lazy girl.

8. T-shirt Dress

T-shirt dresses like jumpsuits and rompers are ideal because you only have to worry about one piece. Whats even better with these is that they’re made out of t-shirt material so they’re lightweight and comfortable. Pairing it with a jean jacket makes it a great look for a coffee date, and they don’t even have to know you’re just too bloated to wear pants.

They are a friend to layering so you can wear them any season. They’re also great for traveling so you look cute in your instagram post at the colosseum but stay cool while sight seeing. Pair with sandals or gym shoes, depending on the look you’re going for. It’s a staple you’ll wear over and over again so pick out a few colors while you’re shopping.

9. Midi Skirts

For some reason midi dresses and skirts give off a fancier look than what a mini skirts and maxis skirts, but luckily for us midi skirts and dresses are very in right now. Mini skirts are great until winter hits and you just can’t with panty hose anymore and maxi skirts have two vibes to them; very fancy full length and cotton causal southern belle, there is no in-between. Midi skirts are perfect for those in-between them and can be worn year round much easier than the other two.

Midi skirts and dresses are all the ease dresses offer but has none of the negatives the others offer. Mini lengths you constantly have to worry about when bending over and sitting down and you’re constantly pulling them to find the perfect length that’s cute but covers. Maxis you’re always worried about it dragging on the ground and getting dirty or tripping over it. Presenting the midi, where none of those issues apply. Being 5’2 I was skeptical of midis but I cannot get enough of their versatility and comfort. I love being able to roam freely in a skirt or dress and not worry about the issues I have with the other lengths. They are easily dressed up or down but one of the more fashionable lazy girl trends.

10. Jeggings

Jeans are a staple for everyone, no doubt but jeggings have gotten a bad rep over the years and I think its because jegging might be the most annoying word of all time. It’s a hybrid of the most essentials pants in a girls wardrobe; jeans and leggings. And thus was born the jegging. The thing about them is that they are everything you want in a pant. They are cute and dressier than leggings but more comfortable than jeans. When they first started out they looked horrendous, they were cotton leggings dyed to look like denim, atrocious. Now they look exactly like jeans, pockets and all but are stretchy and more comfortable than just denim jeans. Truth be told I own more leggings than jeans but in my defense they are more comfortable and flattering of a fit than more jeans. My hips are much larger than my waist so a jegging stays on my body much better than normal jeans do. I don’t have to worry about wearing a belt or constantly pulling them up. Jeggings, we may have mocked you before but we never will again.
