6 Fall Dates You Should Definitely Try

As the burning sun sets on your eager date plans to drive out and visit the zoo, it’s time to get more invested in the idea of finding things to do with your partner during the colder months of the year. As much fun as trying to brave the cold sounds, here are 6 dates that might bring you some joy or warmth instead.

1. Ice skating

You might be clumsy, you might be great, but what better way to reminisce about those days spent at the roller rink than to test yourself out on the ice. This date is especially enjoyable if one partner is adept at skating and can support the other, since what better excuse will you have to hold hands?

Whether you’re helping steady each other or pulling one another down onto the ice, this is guaranteed to take away some of those awkward butterflies. Just try to wear your skates half a size down than your shoes if this is your first time. Ankle chafing is no fun, and you should also prepare to go to lunch or dinner afterwards considering how difficult it can be for a beginner to spend a long time out on the ice.

2. Cozy movie night

Unlike a regular movie night, this night will consist of a blanket fort set up in front of your chosen TV. Save this one for the cold snap that comes through just when you’re both sure winter is never going to arrive. Pile up pillows and heated blankets into a snug cave, with as many stuffed animals as you presume and get your cuddle on.

3. Bonfire

If you don’t have the means to have an actual bonfire, set up a small actual fire where you can and make some s’mores. If no fires are working in your favor, make some on the stove one night. Still, bonfires are not only a great way to burn up all those dead tree branches and leaves in your yard, but also to sit down, have a drink with your partner, and enjoy your time.

4. Biking/Skating

Dig out those bikes or skateboards, it’s finally cool enough outside to enjoy leisurely things without feeling as though your skin might melt like wax. You can bike around the neighborhood, campus, or on trails, whichever one is most convenient for you and your partner at the time. Make sure to bring helmets and plenty of water, though. It might not be as hot as it was, but your body is still going to get dehydrated all the same.

5. Baking

Baking with a partner is much more fun than doing it alone. You can find a recipe together, shop for ingredients, and then divide and conquer when it comes time to cook. Choose something you both like and get creative when it comes to flavors and decorating the dish. If it turns out well then huzzah, and if it didn’t at least you had fun together trying to turn it into a success.

6. Hiking

If biking wasn’t enough to get your October steps in, perhaps hiking will do the trick. Throw on a light jacket and perhaps a raincoat and you’re both fully set to enjoy a nice and quiet mid-morning hike. Fall is a fantastic time to hike because the leaves are changing colors, which makes your surrounding scenery that much more gorgeous.

Unfortunately, the fall might also be colder or more wet depending on where you live, so always choose a day based on the weather for your excursion. If all else fails, a walk around town to admire the trees might do the trick.
