Everything You Need To Do In Atlanta This Summer

Summer is almost here, so you need to find new and trendy things to do in the city so you can have the most lit summer ever. Having spent over twenty years in the amazing city of Atlanta, here is my list of everything you need to do in Atlanta this summer!

1. Nine Mile Station

If you haven’t been to the roof of Ponce City Market before, you’re seriously missing out on such a fun place. There is a cover fee to go up to the rooftop bar, but it’s definitely worth it because the views are incredible and the drinks are great too!

2. Dolls Head Trail

This creepy trail is one of Atlanta’s secret gems. This trail in the south part of the city is a place where visitors are encouraged to leave old toys and to create installations of strange art made from toys. The trail isn’t that hard to hike, so it’s a fun and strange activity that you can do one afternoon this summer. Even better, it’s free and you’ll get some wild Instagram pictures out of your visit.

3. The Battery

The Battery (the newly developed area where the new Braves stadium is) is one of the hottest places in Atlanta right now. There are lots of popping, beautiful bars and restaurants all around the stadium so you don’t even have to go to a Braves game to check this spot out. The area is so cool to walk around in, so definitely add it to your list of places to go this summer!

4. Ferris Wheel In Centennial Park

If you want some amazing views, the Ferris wheel in Centennial Park is an activity that you have to try this summer. It does cost a bit to ride the Ferris wheel, but it is totally worth it to have this awesome experience. From the top, you can literally see the whole skyline, which is so cool. This activity is perfect for a night out with friends and it can be romantic, so take your bae here too!

5. Lake Lanier Islands Water Park

Atlanta doesn’t have a beach, but you can get a beach experience at the Lake Lanier Islands water park! This water park isn’t as big as White Water, but it’s honestly much more fun because you have the beautiful scenery of Lake Lanier to look at. Also, going to the water park is a great way to experience the lake if you don’t have a boat or know someone who does, so it’s definitely worth hitting up this summer!

6. The College Football Hall Of Fame

If you’re a big sports fan, don’t sleep on this awesome new college football hall of fame located in the heart of downtown Atlanta! This is a great museum for learning more about the history of famous college football players and a way to appreciate all the sports moguls from Georgia too. Because of its centralized location, you can make a whole day out of touring the area and seeing other museums afterwards!

7. The Atlanta Jazz Festival

The jazz festival is a yearly event that is not to be missed. It’s a fun way to experience culture and hang out with your friends in a more low-key music festival setting. It runs from May 25th through the 26th so you can choose either day, bring a picnic blanket and some wine, and post up for the whole afternoon with your squad!

I've got a case of wanderlust, I'll never stop traveling because my goal is to go to every single continent. I've made it to four out of seven so far. I graduated from Emory University in May of 2018 with a degree in English and Political Science. I will be attending law school this fall but in the meantime I write, travel, and love to be outside in nature.
