10 Essential Pieces Every College Woman Needs in Her Closet

Let me preface this by saying every girl has a different style. Some girls prefer dresses and heels while others feel most comfortable in leggings and sneakers.  Personally, I like both. There are some days that I mimic a barbie doll and there are days where I look like I just left a rock concert. It’s whatever. That being said, there are some pieces of clothing that I think every single girl should have in her closet, no matter what kind of style she has.  In this article, I will discuss 10 essential pieces every college woman needs in her closet!

1. A Leather Jacket

Preferably faux, but that is completely your decision. The best part of a leather jacket is that it’s so versatile.  I’ve worn it with dresses for a nicer look and with a sweatshirt and leggings for a rocker-chic look.

2. Boyfriend Jeans

I know that jeggings and skin tight jeans are still preferred by many college women around the world but TRUST ME and get yourself a pair of boyfriend jeans.  They are great for class since they are actually comfortable to wear and look great with a crop top.

3. Band Tees

I like to think that band tees make me look like the coolest chick in town. Before wearing a band tee in public, I suggest knowing a few of that band’s songs just in case anyone thinks you’re a real die-hard fan. Trust me, it’ll happen.

4. Lace Bralettes

The comfort of a sports bra (or no bra, depending on what kind you get) that is still cute. What more does a girl need?

5. Black Jeans (that are NOT leggings)

Considering every college girl probably has black leggings in their wardrobe, I’m suggesting a pair of black jeans.  These will come in handy one day when you need to look a little more put together but don’t want to wear blue jeans and they literally go with everything so you can’t lose.

6. A Plain Sweatshirt

No logo. Just plain.  A plain sweatshirt will go with any pair of pants you want to wear.  It also goes great with black jeans and a leather jacket.  (Look at that, three pieces in this list TOGETHER!)

7. Oversized Sweater

Because it’s just as necessary to be cozy as it is to be fashion forward.

8. High Rise Jean Shorts

Perfect for any occasion in the summer.  Festivals, picnics, movies… you name it and these will work.

9. Ankle Booties

These are great because they work in all seasons and can be dressed up or down.  They are also sold basically everywhere so they can fit any budget.

10. A Denim Jacket

You know what they say, fashion works in cycles.  Denim jackets are definitely making a comeback and I love it.  Wear it with an oversized sweater in the fall or with leggings and a band tee.
