Dye Your Hair These Fun Colors Just In Time For Summer

Summer is for fun and that doesn’t stop at your hair! Think out of the box this summer and experiment with your hair color. From full-on rainbow hues to just adding fun colored highlights, feel free to add some interest to your style by using some hair dye! Some of these looks will require professional help especially the looks that require a whole-head change. But some of these can be achieved using products like Overtone or Arctic Fox that use a temporary color formula that you can do at home for a change that isn’t permanent. Either way, have some fun and express yourself with your hair!

Lavender

Skip the harsh bright purple and opt for a softer shade and get a perfect, ethereal hue that is perfect for summer. Lavender is such a great color for hair that everyone from celebrities to influencers has been trying out. It’s cute, girly and the soft shade is just perfect for a sunny summer. Try a whole head look with the soft color or add some depth with a darker purple through the roots that fades out to the lightest shade. If you work somewhere where a purple head would be frowned upon, keep it subtle with lavender highlights or ombre.

Pink Touches

I particularly love this hair color option because I have done it several times! Pink is so much fun and doing an ombre fade of hot or light pink is such a cute addition to your summer look! I’ve done hot pink highlights, pink ombre and a pink peekaboo and all three are fun ways to add color to your hair without going fully committed! If you aren’t sure if the color is right for you, try a temporary option and move to permanent once you’ve decided you want it to stay for the summer!

Peekabo Color

If you can’t go crazy with your hair color because of work, this is the best option! Peekaboo colors let you have fun colored hair that you can hide when you need to! Pick on color or go for a more rainbow style that you can show off with a half-up ponytail or bun. Make sure that you or your stylist section out the hair correctly to make it mostly hidden when your hair is down. I have had it done where it no longer is a peekaboo, just the bottom half of my hair was colored and luckily my bosses were okay with it, but in a more formal setting, you may need some more coverage so just be careful while you get crazy with the color!

Bright Blue

Summer is filled with blue skies, blue water and blue drinks so of course, you can’t go wrong with blue hair to match the summer vibes! There are so many different options when it comes to dying your hair blue. Choosing a bright color with a dark blue root is very on-trend and looks cool, while dying it a uniform color looks great as well! If electric blue isn’t your taste, try a softer shade or an ombre look to make it even more interesting!

Pretty Pastels

Again, this is a great option if you have to balance a work/life type of summer but still want to have some fun with your hair! Maintain your hair color but add some pretty pastel highlights throughout or just on the ends. Pastels have become very popular and while you can definitely do it on darker hair tones, this is great on blondes since the color is easier to apply and will fade softly. Make more of a statement and do the peekaboo look with the fun pastel colors or heck-do you whole head, you only live once!

Platinum

So this idea is mostly for blonde but don’t count yourself out if you are a darker haired babe! Platinum is a great color for summer since it is so light, bright and fun! For this look, definitely go to a professional so the color turns out platinum and not yellowy or orange! You want it to be very blonde, almost white and that color is hard to get at home! Platinum may be hard to upkeep but next to a pool or ocean, you’ll look like a beach goddess!

Ocean Ombre

Speaking of oceans, why not let the colors of the water inspire your hair color? This is another look that I have definitely done in the summer! Adding some various blues, turquoise and greens look great in the summertime and an ombre is easy to do! If you’re blonde, it may be a little easier to just add the colors to the ends but brunettes can do this look as well-I did! If you just want a few highlights, Overtone and Arctic Fox are great options, but if you want one-day temporary color, try hair chalk. It’s all the fun with none of the commitment!

Emerald

Living on the Emerald Coast of Florida, it can be no surprise that I love the idea of this ocean colored hair! Just like with the other blue hues, it looks amazing with dark roots for depth and a fade to lighter colors but you can never go wrong with a full head of green! If you are wanting more Billie Eilish vibes, go for it! Any shade of green will look amazing during the summer time!

Rainbow

Finally, if you can’t decide on what singular color to dye your hair, go for all of them! Just like with the other color options, make sure to check your summer plans so you don’t end up fired with rainbow hair! If you want to keep it subtle, try rainbow highlights or a rainbow peekaboo with bold hues. If you have an awesome boss or a work-free summer, go bold and do a full head of rainbow. You can do an ombre-style look with the colors fading to the lighter hues of the rainbow or with rainbow streaks throughout, the styling options are endless!
