10 Desserts That You Won’t Feel Guilty For Eating

Let’s be honest, we all have a raging sweet tooth.

We know it’s not good for us to eat a lot of sugar, and yet our bodies crave it. At least, mine does. All. The. Time. When I don’t get the sugar, I get real grumpy real quick.

So, in an effort to bring about world peace, I have found 10 desserts that you won’t feel guilty for eating.

1. Avocado mint chocolate chip ice cream

It’s a miracle. This recipe is raw, dairy and nut free, only takes 5 ingredients to make, AND it comes in the best ice cream flavor? I’m in heaven.

To make this dessert you will need:

2 medium/large avocados (pitted and cut into chunks)

1 medium banana

¼ coconut butter (or coconut oil, your choice)

2 tablespoons of maple syrup (or honey)

1 tablespoon of peppermint extract (fresh mint optional)

3-5 tablespoons of chocolate chips (or more, you decide)

This recipe takes a lot of stirring, but in the end it’s totally worth it for the delicious payoff. Check it out and follow the directions to get to the good stuff.

2. Frozen banana bites

Bananas are usually my go-to for breakfast, but sometimes the same old same old gets, well, old.

While I was looking around for some recipe for bananas to mix up my breakfast, I came across this one that can give me both chocolate and bananas at the same time!

To be fair, it is technically a dessert (which means that I probably shouldn’t eat it for breakfast), so I feel justified including it with this list.

To make these delicious treats you will need:

1 ripe banana

½ cup of 70% dark chocolate chips

1 tablespoon of milk or milk substitute

1 tablespoon of coconut oil

1 tablespoon of flax meal

1 tablespoon of chia seeds

1 tablespoon of protein powder (optional)

½ cup of chopped nuts (optional)

There is a little bit of effort needed to make these banana bites, but they are really yummy so you should definitely try it out.

4. Strawberry shortcake

In an effort to give a little something to all of those who aren’t as in love with chocolate as I am, this single serve recipe for strawberry shortcake is definitely a win.

It only takes 4 ingredients and 13 minutes to make, so it’s an easy option as well.

You will need:

One handful of fresh strawberries

Yogurt (your choice, but I’d go Greek)

2 eggs

2 tablespoons of coconut flour

For added sweetness—a few drops of stevia or 1-2 tsp of honey (optional)

Follow this recipe for step by step instructions on how to make a great summer treat.

5. Raw smore’s (and healthy marshmallows)

While I was typing this I started drooling, no joke. I love smores, so if there is any way that I can eat them guilt-free I’m going to do it. (scroll down for the bonus recipes)

Besides the fact that it’s a recipe for smore’s (which is automatically amazing), this recipe is really great because it’s raw, gluten-free, paleo, low sugar, and it only takes 10 minutes to make.

You will need:

½ cup of walnut halves

½ cup of finely shredded coconut flakes

3 tablespoons of mesquite flour (can use nut meal, carob, or cocoa)

1 tablespoon of coconut oil

1 tablespoon of flax meal

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

2 tablespoons of yacon syrup, molasses, or maple syrup

And here’s where the bonus recipe comes in. We’re not using regular marshmallows, because we’re not basic bitches.

You will need:

1 cup of water

3 tablespoons of gelatin

2-3 tablespoons of maple syrup

Lastly comes the chocolate sauce. You will need:

A few drops of stevia

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

6 tablespoons of raw cacao powder (or cocoa)

4 tablespoons of coconut oil, liquid

1-2 tablespoons of water

This one is more involved because there are a lot of various steps and ingredients, but if you love smore’s as much as I do, and you want a healthier option that you won’t feel guilty for eating, it’s worth the extra effort.

6. Lemon shortbread pie

Nothing says summer like fruit-flavored desserts, and lemon-flavor is easily the most popular of them all, so I had to include this recipe. To make this tangy treat, you will need:

5 tablespoons of butter

1 tablespoon of coconut oil

3 tablespoons of honey

2 cups of almond meal/flour

¼ cup garbanzo flour (or coconut flour)

1-2 teaspoons of lemon extract

Topping—lemon zest or peel, cinnamon, and honey

For a little more sweetness, ass 1-2 teaspoons of stevia.

Follow this recipe for the exact steps.

7. Homemade crunch bars

I’m just going to assume that we all love the classic crunch candy bars. There’s something about the combination of sweet and crunchy that just hits the spot. I’m not sure what it is or why. And honestly, who am I to question what feels so right?

However, I am allowed to question how much sugar those delicious candy bars contain. The answer? Way too much.

So I super-sleuthed my way to this recipe for an option with all the crunchy goodness that everyone loves, but much less sugar.

You will need:

¼ cup of dark chocolate chips

½ cup of coconut oil

¼ cup of unsweetened cocoa powder

2 tablespoons of natural peanut butter

1 cup of crispy rice cereal

This dessert takes 35 minutes to make, and once you’re done you’ll have 12 bars to munch on.

8. Sugar free vanilla cake

My first thought when I saw this recipe was, what’s cake without sugar?? But, after a little bit of time spent thinking about it, I have seen the light.

No sugar doesn’t mean not sweet, it just means that your dessert is a little healthier. And that’s always a good thing.

To make this cake you will need:

1 large, ripe plantain (7 oz after peeling)

3 large eggs

1 teaspoon of vanilla bean powder

½ cup of coconut butter

2 tablespoons of coconut milk

1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar

½ teaspoon of liquid stevia

To make the frosting you will need:

¼ cup of coconut butter

2 tablespoons of coconut milk

A few drops of stevia (roughly 8 drops)

Follow these instructions to bake the perfect sugar free vanilla cake.

10. Pumpkin pie fudge

Gotta be honest guys, I’m on the fence about this one. I like pumpkin pie, and I love fudge, but I don’t know how I feel about combining those two things. Sometimes we can do something, but it doesn’t mean that we should.

The upside is that it only takes ten minutes to make, so if it’s gross you won’t have invested that much of your life into it. I haven’t decided if I’m going to try it or not yet.

I ‘m leaning toward feeling like can’t handle the responsibility of making something like this, so I’m putting the decision in your hands. I’m honestly curious about your reactions, so please let me know how this one goes in the comments section.

To make this dessert you will need:

1 cup of pumpkin puree (fresh or canned)

½ cup of coconut butter (softened)

3-4 tablespoons of maple syrup

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

½ teaspoon of ginger

1/8 teaspoon of cloves

Follow these instructions to create god knows what. May the odds be ever in your favor.

10 Desserts That You Won’t Feel Guilty For Eating

And that’s the end of the list. I’m really excited to try some of these, because I’m constantly telling myself that I shouldn’t eat dessert because I want to look a certain way, or because I don’t want the sugar spike to make me feel sluggish or tired, or because I’m worried it will break my skin out. But, thankfully, this list of 10 desserts that you won’t feel guilty for eating has helped me balance the need for sweet with the quest for healthy.
