Creative Alcoholic Snacks For Summer Barbecues

Be the star of this years summer barbeques with these innovative treats guarenteed to wow your guests! Standard drinks will be a thing of the past with these tasty drunken edibles.

Tequila Grilled Pineapple

For this tasty snack, start by slicing up some pineapple (if it didn’t come precut) into bite size pieces in a bowl. Pour tequila over the fruit and let it sit for several hours to soak up the alcohol. Remove from alcohol and place pineapple on several skewers.

Before grilling, shake some paprika and any other seasonings you like over the pineapple. I’m a fan of pepper, chili powder, and honey, which is a great choice to add if you’re looking for a sweater option. Then simply throw it on the grill to char!

Grilled pineapple is a delicious stand alone treat, but can quickly become a decadent desert with the addition of some vanilla ice cream on top! For this option, try grilling the pineapple in circular slices instead.

If you choose to, you may save the excess tequila and pineapple juice to use in another flavoring or as a part of a mixed drink. Combining leftover alcohol with drinks like ginger ale, Sprite, or frozen juice can make for a strong, but delicious unique beverage.

Chocolate Covered Drunken Cherries

These bite size snacks are packed with flavor and sure to leave you coming back for more!

Start by soaking maraschino cherries (or any variety without a pit) in Fireball cinnamon whiskey or amaretto, depending on whether you want a spicy or sweet flavor. Let the cherries soak up the alcohol while you prepare the chocolate.

If you choose to use multiple types of chocolate, (white, milk, dark, semi-sweet,) make sure you have a seperate microwave friendly bowl to melt each one into. Slowly heat up the chocolate one at a time in the microwave, stirring no less than once every 20 seconds. Be careful with this step as the chocolate with seize if it becomes too hot or over mixed.

You can also heat up your chocolate on the stove top, though the concept remains the same. Make sure no water touches the chocolate and stir regularly.

Once your chocolate is melted, simply pat your cherries dry with a paper towel to remove the excess moisture, dip in, and let dry! Removing the moisture is very important, so make sure you don’t forget.

For added creativity, you can try adding sprinkles or designs by swirling other colored chocolate on top of the finished product.

Not Your Fathers Root Beer Brat

This is essentially the same concept as any normal beer brat. Purchase some alcoholic root beer, such as Not Your Fathers Root Beer, and add them to you brats or Italians as you choose!

Many opt to use a slow cooker. In this case, you brown the brats on a grill or skillet with any vegtables you wish to add, then place them in a slow cooker and cover with the alcoholic root beer. Let sit on low heat for six hours and enjoy!

If you’re not a rootbeer fan, but are still looking for something a little more unique, try making a beer marinated chicken breast instead. Fry onions in a skillet to serve hot on top of the chicken.

For a creative option the whole family can enjoy, try making a variety of meats cooked in various alcohol so people can mix and match options!

Baileys Irish Cream Jello Shots

These fun treats your guests will love require only four ingredients and are super simple to make! You’ll need five packs of unflavored jello, coffee or espresso, sugar, and a bottle of Baileys.

Mix the hot coffee with two packs of unflavored jello and sugar as desired, then pour into a brownie pan and chill in the fridge.

Once the first layer is set, heat up a portion of the Baileys (up to a fourth of the bottle, as much you can comfortably handle warming,) and mix in with three packs of unflavored jello. Add the remaining portion of the bottle, finish mixing and chill on top of the first layer. Pull it out a few hours later, cut, and enjoy!

Tequila Lime Grilled Chicken Sliders

For a more filling option, try marinating chicken in tequila. Zest a lemon and lime into the mixture and squeeze the remaining lime in. Then cut into two inch or so squares prior to grilling.

To make into the perfect zesty snack, put on top of slider buns with guacamole or sliced avocado and your choice of cheese. These delicious Mexican inspired snacks will offer a nice balance to keep the alcohol taste from being overwhelming.

Alcoholic Melon Balls

These tasty treats are wonderful because the leftovers can be used to make a second snack! You’ll want to form the melon balls prior to infusing them or they may not keep their shape.

Use a melon baller to scoop out as much as you can from the inside of a watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, or whatever else you choose. Then pour your choice of alcohol on top and let sit overnight before removing the melon balls from the liquid and serving.

With the remaining melon that didn’t quite form, try making a watermelon and rum popsicle by blending the two together and freezing! Alternatively, crush up some ice and use tequila to make a watermelon and mint margarita slushy.

Kahlua Fudgesicle

For this recipe you’ll need 1 ¾ cups cold milk, half cup evaporated milk, one pack of chocolate jello mix, a quarter cup of sugar, and Kahlua.

Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl for two minutes or until fully mixed, pour into an empty popsicle container and freeze. Then simply pull out and enjoy your tasty, chocolatey treat!

For added flavor and fun, melt some chocolate or peanut butter and drizzle it on top prior to feeezing.
