Coolest Houston Attractions To Visit This Summer

Houston is one of the largest cities in America with some of the coolest attractions. If you’re planning on visiting Houston this summer then these Houston attractions are a can’t miss.

1. The Menil Collection

No list of the coolest Houston attractions wouldn’t be right without a shout out to one of Houston’s well respected museums. The main building in the Menil houses special exhibitions and permeant collections for visitors to discover. Upcoming exhibitions include a contemporary focus of Mineko Grimmer and a special close-up of artist Dorothea Tanning. And the best part, admissions is totally free.

2. Houston Zoo

See them. Save them. The Houston Zoo’s dedication to saving wildlife makes it one the coolest and respectful attractions in Houston. From the African Forest to the Wortham World of Primates, there’s no shortage of fun and awe to be had during your visit at the Houston Zoo. Visitors also have a chance to become a Houston Zoo member while being there. As an member you will be able to save on the next time you visit.

3. Space Center Houston

The official visitor center of NASA’s Johnson Space Center is Space Center Houston. A must-see of all the Houston attractions, you’ll be able to learn about upcoming missions from NASA. You may also encounter an astronaut from time to time. Level 9 Tour gives visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the Johnson Space Center.

4. Museum of Fine Arts Houston

You drive into the museum district and the first thing you may encounter is the MFAH. What can I say about this awesome place? Vincent Van Gogh’s exhibition is awesome. Currently they have European decorative arts and paintings on display. Thursdays are completely free. They even have special films highlighting some of the greatest artist to have ever lived!

5. Downtown Aquarium

Somewhere under the sea lives one of the coolest Houston attractions ever. Seriously, Downtown aquarium is an awesome place for kids to spend their summer. The education room allows visitors to get up and close with many different sea animals. Some of the animals you may encounter include bearded dragons, sea turtles and snakes. Children 2 and under get in free.

6. Galleria

The Houston Galleria is home to some of the coolest and most well known fashion brands in the world. Enjoy quality service and the most up-to-date fashion trends while sipping on Coca-Cola. You can also visit Bazille at Nordstrom, the Cheesecake Factory, and many other restaurants while you’re there.

7. University of Houston Central Campus

Odd, right? But think about it. Once you’re inside Houston you may want to check out one of its most well respected campuses. The University of Houston is a top tier school that has multiple different undergraduate programs. Perhaps you love Houston so much that you may want to go to school there. Just saying.

8. Houston Museum of Natural Science

Gotta say, not a big fan of dinosaurs. But to leave this out of a list of the coolest Houston attractions would be a crime. From Death by Natural Causes to the Giant big screen theater, the museum of natural sciences houses some of the most coolest and weirdest exhibitions in Houston. They also have a exhibition called ‘Moon’ in honor of the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.

9. Vintage Stores on the 19th street in The Heights

I’ve actually only found this out while doing a bit of research but apparently if you want to find vintage décor, old collectibles, and even retro clothing then The Heights is where you would want to go. This area is filled with quirky shops and passionate creators and sellers. Take a gander at the Heights while you’re visiting Houston.
