With all of the absolute craziness plaguing (literally) our world right now, it is getting harder and harder to not let it affect our everyday mood. In trying times like these, we could all use some comfort food to lift our spirits. 

Personally, when I think of good old fashioned comfort food, my mind goes to cheese, potatoes, pasta, and grease. Basically anything g that will clog an artery or two. Expect a ton of that below! Here are 10 comfort food recipes that are tested and confirmed cures for any sadness the world throws your way!

1. Chicken Noodle Casserole

Chicken Noodle Soup is one of the most famous comfort food recipes to cure a sickness, so why not make it into a full-blown meal to cure sadness? This recipe is fool-proof and will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside with each and every bite. My go-to meal when I am sad is always some form of a cheeseburger. My favorite kind of cheeseburger is a patty melt. Thy rye bread and the onions transform this classic meal into something of a flavor explosion of great vibes and positive thoughts. Mentally bring yourself to a packed diner (in the pre-Corona era, of course) with 50s music playing in your head like elevator music with each bite. Another classic recipe that feels like it’s warming up your insides with every bite is the chocolate chip cookie. each family has their own way of making them, and no recipe is right or wrong. The recipe that I like to use, that warms my soul the most, is the soft batch recipe. A nice, soft chocolate chip cookie after a bowl of mac and cheese sounds absolutely sublime at any time, let alone when you’re not feeling great.

This indulgent dessert is another incredibly comforting recipe to treat yourself too on a particularly rough day. I’d even advise skipping dinner and heading straight for these of you’re really in one of those awful moods. These are the richest and gooey brownies I have ever made and no one has ever had anything but a smile on their face while eating them. I find baking very therapeutic when I’m anxious and upset, so this recipe is a win-win for me!

Creamy, buttery mashed potatoes are God’s gift to this earth. It is impossible to turn done mashed potatoes whether you are happy or sad. Nothing soothes the soul quite likes sitting on the couch in front of the television with a bowl of mashed potatoes topped with like 6 sticks of butter and a spoon just eating away your sorrows.
