Along with New York City (aka The Big Apple), the city of Los Angeles is one of the two major fashion capitals in the United States. New York Fashion Week and Los Angeles Fashion Week are among the biggest fashion events in both the country and the world. 

Shopping at clothes is an activity most women love to do. Doesn’t it feel amazing to be looking sharp in trendy and stylish clothes? The city of Los Angeles has many fantastic and unique clothing stores where people can purchase the coolest clothes and accessories.

Whether it is trendy, vintage, swimwear, leisurewear, or beachwear, to name of a couple of different types of clothing, Los Angeles has some famous streets for shopping that one can buy said types of clothing, in addition to shoes and accessories. Some of these well-known areas for clothing stores include Melrose Avenue, Abbot Kinney Blvd., Rodeo Drive, and Robertson Blvd., to name a few. 

With so many local boutiques and clothing stores with fashionable finds, there are so many stores across Los Angeles to check out and buy some new stuff. It is important to note that common clothing stores with many locations across the country such as Nordstrom, Forever 21, Ralph Lauren, Nike, etc. will not be included on this list. With that being said, here are 5 Clothing Stores in LA To Check Out:

1. Show Me Your Mumu:

A brand that is often found in retail clothing stores and boutiques across the country, Show Me Your Mumu’s flagship (and only actual store location) is located in Venice. Show Me Your Mumu is one of the many clothing stores on the famous Abbott Kinney Boulevard, a mile-long stretch of popular restaurants, shops, and entertainment in Venice. The area is also well-known for its nightlife and entertainment. 

Clothes from this store are suited for people who personal style is bohemian and beach like. The brand is also great to shop from for vacations and warm weather. All clothing items are comfortable, stylish, and versatile. Although Show Me Your Mumu is a bit on the expensive side (not as in designer clothing expensive), it is worth every penny as all the clothes is made from the best quality of materials possible. 2. Wasteland:

Wasteland has three locations across Los Angeles in Studio City, Santa Monica, and on Melrose Avenue. At any of these three clothing stores, customers will find tons of racks of lightly worn clothing that is either designer clothing or vintage. The same thing can be said for accessories as well. In addition, Wasteland sells new clothing items as well that are rock and roll inspired. 

This place is one of several clothing stores in Los Angeles that allows customers to sell any of your closet castoffs (must be lightly worn or used) which you don’t want any more in exchange for cash or store credit. Among the second-hand clothing stores in Los Angeles, Wasteland is one of the most popular and best to shop or browse for fashion items. Celebrities have been spotted at Wasteland offloading endless amounts of lightly-worn and used designer clothing and accessories that they don’t want or need anymore. 

3. Plush Boutique:

This boutique is located in Brentwood, a surburb of Los Angeles and is part of The Streets of Brentwood, an outdoor shopping center. Plush Boutique is one of several local clothing stores in the city where one can find quality clothing and essential pieces inspired by current fashion trends. The types of clothing items sold here range from work to weekend to swim pieces. Clothes from Plush Boutique will make one feel super sexy and confident.

4. Fred Segal:

Excluding designer brands like Gucci and Valentino and common clothing brands like American Eagle and H&M, probably the most recognizable amongst the famous clothing stores in Los Angeles is Fred Segal. The brand has six locations across the world, with half being in The United States. All three US Fred Segal stores are located in Los Angeles at LAX, Malibu, and West Hollywood. The latter location is on the famous Sunset Blvd. and is also Fred Segal’s flagship store.

The lifestyle brand sells both clothes and accessories. All clothing items, beauty products, and accessories sold at Fred Segal are based on the diverse Los Angeles Scenery in addition to current lifestyle and fashion trends. The store also sells items from popular lifestyle and fashion brands as well. Fred Segal became one of the most famous clothing stores in Los Angeles due to the brand’s heavy influence on pop culture for almost 60 years. The lifestyle brand has been featured or received a shout out from hit movies and TV Shows such as Legally Blonde, Clueless, The O.C., and Entourage

5.  Planet Blue:

Planet Blue is one of the best clothing stores to buy clothing items from if your personal style is bohemian, chic, and sexy. The boutique also has its own swimwear collection called ‘Blue Life”. Planet Blue has multiple clothing stores locations across Los Angeles in Venice, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Malibu, and El Segundo. The boutique strives to create clothing items that ‘appeal to the California girl’s lifestyle’. 

All of the clothing items in this store are contemporary, trendy, and fashionable. Whether it is going to the beach, going out in general, or a night out, Planet Blue’s clothing line makes you feel and look good. The prices are not too expensive, but worth every penny if you any look chic. Planet Blue is also one of the recommended clothing stores to consider buying clothing items and/or accessories from for music festivals like Coachella, Stagecoach, and Austin City Limits Music Festival.
