Celebrity Skincare And Makeup Brands You Should Try

It seems as though every celebrity now has a beauty line, with stars taking to Instagram to tout new products every week. With little distinction among the companies, many of us are tired of seeing celebrity skincare and makeup brands barge through our social media feed. However, there are some gems among duds, and not all celebrities simply paste their name on a cosmetic bottle and call it a day. Here are some of our favorite celebrity skincare and makeup brands that are worth trying out.

Humanrace by Pharrell Williams

13-time Grammy Award winner Pharrell Williams founded the skincare line Humanrace after pursuing his own wellness journey. Launched in late 2020, Humanrace’s first product release included the Rice Powder Cleanser, Lotus Enzyme Exfoliator and Humidifying Cream. Now, according to the brand’s Instagram account (@humanrace), Humanrace is gearing up to launch a “Suncare” line on July 14, 2022 that is designed to eliminate white cast.

On Instagram, the Humanrace account shared Pharrell’s mission for starting the company. Unlike other brands, Pharrell stated that Humanrace “doesn’t differentiate by race or gender” and is “creating for humans.” Additionally, on the Humanrace website, the brand maintains that “wellbeing is our most valuable resource” and emphasizes its desire to make wellbeing “accessible to everyone.”

One of the best features of Humanrace is its natural, dermatologist-tested ingredients. According to the Humanrace website, for example, all of its products exclude fragrances and essential oils (ingredients that can cause irritation for those with sensitive skin in particular). Even skincare influencer Hyram rated the brand highly in a Youtube video ranking celebrity skincare brands.

about-face by Halsey

Anyone who follows Halsey understands the “Without Me” singer’s passion for makeup. The founder and CCO of About-Face, Halsey launched her cosmetic brand in early 2021. A few weeks before About-Face released its first products, Halsey expressed on Instagram (@iamhalsey) their experience as an artist, stating they have done their “own makeup for concerts, red carpets, magazine covers, and music videos alike for a long time.” However, Halsey added that “makeup is about feeling cool—not looking perfect.”

That mindset of respecting makeup for the sake of self-expression is reflected in About-Face’s products. From Fractal Glitter Eye Paint to lavender liquid highlighter, there is a certain otherworldly, whimsical quality to Halsey’s brand.

JLo Beauty by Jennifer Lopez

Everyone knows that Jennifer Lopez has radiant skin. In fact, the triple-threat icon started her skincare brand after years of fans asking how she achieves such a natural glow. According to the JLo Beauty website, Lopez’s flawless skin was inherited from her mother who used olive oil to rejuvenate her own skin. While Lopez notes that “olive oil isn’t always great for the skin,” she wanted to take the ingredient’s moisturizing qualities and combine those with other elements. And thus, the JLo Beauty Olive Complex was born, the defining ingredient of the skincare brand.

More expensive than the other celebrity skincare and makeup brands on this list, JLo Beauty products come in crystal bottles with bronze detailing. One of the most popular products on the site, That Blockbuster Hydrating Cream is meant to reduce wrinkles and fine lines and smooth the skin. It currently sells for $58 USD.
