5 Great Hobbies to get Into

  1. Reading

  • Reading is one of the hobbies that have withstood the test of time. It’s a beautiful art form that has evolved with our society. With so many fresh and unique minds coming together to create some fascinating and new stories, reading is one of the hobbies that can be something different every single time. Reading has evolved beyond that of just heavy novels. There are so many forms from different cultures that people have engulfed themselves in over the years. There are so many genres of novels, comics, manga and so much more that you can spend your time reading. No matter what you love, there is a piece of literature written for it somewhere out there. This is one hobby that will exercise your mind and your imagination and make you escape to a different world. It doesn’t take too much time out of your day to read something, but it also provides you with just enough entertainment to take it on as one of your new hobbies. It’s also a very healthy disconnect from everything else you have going on. You can put yourself in a sort of do not disturb mode and enjoy some time specifically made for you.

  1. Writing

  • Writing is another hobby that can help you disconnect from your very busy life. There are so many different wonderful ways that you can use writing as one of your hobbies. Writing to create something is one way to get started. This is meant for those that want to test their creativity and try writing a plot with actual characters and events. This is the more challenging way of writing as it requires more thinking and planning, but it can be very fun to see yourself create an entire new world. Another healthy way to use writing is by writing down the negatives and the positives in your life. Sometimes writing down your bad thoughts or moments can act as a form of relieving stress. Write down something negative in your life and then throw it away and write something positive. You can also write yourself little notes to keep yourself motivated throughout the day. Maybe you’ll have a very strong mindset in the morning, but you know you’ll get discouraged later on in the day, so you write yourself a little pick me up. We all love to get positive reinforcement from others, but it’s a very powerful feeling when we have the ability to pick ourselves up. Writing is one of those hobbies that can be used to lift your own spirits anytime of the week.

It’s also one of the most rewarding ones as the art community is vast and super supportive of one another. It’s a great hobby to engulf yourself in if you want to branch out and meet others that share the same passion for your hobby as you do.
