Campus Resources At Clemson Every Student Should Know

Sometimes, really helpful resources on certain campuses go unnoticed. It would be a shame not to take advantage of what your school has to offer, so here I’ve provided 11 campus resources at Clemson every student should know.

1. Career Center

The Career Center is one of the best campus resources at Clemson, especially for guidance about your future. They can help you with anything, from perfecting your résumé to helping you find jobs. They even have a test you can take if you’re totally lost and have no idea what your major should be.

2. Library

I’ve never checked a book out from Cooper Library (do people still do that?), but the library has a great study environment. The floors get quieter as you go down levels, so you can find the perfect environment that will work best with your study habits.

3. Academic Success Center

The Academic Success Center (ASC) is another one of the studying-centered campus resources at Clemson. They have a ton of study space, which doesn’t fill up as quickly as the library. This is also where tutoring, academic coaching, and SI sessions usually take place.

4. Supplemental Instruction (SI)

Supplemental Instruction, more commonly known as SI, is offered for some science, math, and engineering classes. SI instructors are students who have taken the same class and received a good grade in it. You can attend their weekly sessions to get extra practice and have your questions answered before exams.

5. Tutoring

The ASC offers free drop-in tutoring for over 100 courses at Clemson. So the chances are, if you’re struggling in a class, there’s probably a tutor who can help you out. This is a great opportunity for you to get more practice and have your questions answered.

6. Tiger Transit

Tiger Transit is a free transportation system that runs anywhere on campus. You can request a ride anytime between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. This is perfect if you don’t want to walk home from the library alone or if you park your car and it’s raining. You can request a ride through the app or by calling them; it definitely comes in handy.

7. Campus Bookstore

The campus bookstore, located in Hendrix Student Center, is a super convenient place to get any kind of school supplies. It’s also really easy to order books online through their website and pick them up before classes start. Although their prices aren’t always the cheapest, they’ll match lower prices that you find online; so don’t be afraid to shop around!

8. On-Campus Starbucks

The on-campus Starbucks is conveniently located so that you can grab a quick pick-me-up before class. It’s also a really great study spot if you don’t need to study in silence. It doesn’t get as crowded as the library usually does, especially during busy test weeks.

9. Study Rooms

Clemson allows you to reserve study rooms online. These rooms are located in either the library or the ASC and are a great resource. You can book a room to work on a group project or even reserve one in advance for finals week to avoid the crowds.

10. Academic Coaching & Counseling

I don’t have any personal experience with the Academic Coaching & Counseling provided at Clemson, but it’s a good thing to know about. These coaches and counselors can help you with time management and study skills that will best suit you. If you find yourself struggling with finding a good study technique, don’t be afraid to take advantage of this resource.

11. Academic Advising

Everyone gets assigned an academic advisor based on his or her major. You’re usually required to meet with them before you register for classes. Don’t be afraid to ask a ton of questions about specific classes or your major and career path in general. They’re super knowledgeable and are there to help you. You’ll find them extremely helpful when you find yourself completely overwhelmed during the (very) stressful week of class registration.
