7 Bullet Journal Supplies To Get If You’re Just Starting Out

Starting a bullet journal can be intimidating with all of the gorgeous photos on Pinterest and Instagram. To help you get started, we’ve put together a list of 7 bullet journal supplies beginners need.

1. A Great Set Of Fine Liners

This is a great set of fine liners to start out with when you’re new to bullet journaling because they’re high quality but relatively inexpensive. Some of the most important bullet journal supplies you can get are pens, and these are really pigmented but don’t tend to bleed through. They will ghost, though, so if you’re going to use them on a spread where the back needs to be relatively clear consider using the lighter colors.

2. A Ruler That’s A Good Size For Your Bullet Journal

When you’re setting up your monthly and weekly, you’ll probably need to make a lot of straight lines. It can be really nice to have a smaller ruler so you’re not constantly bumping the end of your ruler. These are clear, which is great because it means that you can see where you’re drawing. It’s also great that this comes in a set of two rulers because chances are you’ll lose one pretty quickly.

3. Correction Tape

The bullet journal supply that every beginner needs that they might not think of is correction tape. Nothing’s more frustrating than ruining a wonderful spread by misdating something or making a silly spelling mistake. Correction tape is instantly dry unlike a liquid version, and it can really save a spread. Plus, this comes in a three-pack so you won’t run out too fast! If you end up liking correction tape, consider buying one that’s refillable so you’re not wasting as much plastic.

4. A Tape Runner

In a similar vein, this is a bullet journal supply that a beginner might not think of, but it’s something that can help you take your bullet journaling to the next level really quickly. With a tape runner, you can paste things like photographs, tickets, and clippings into your bullet journal to decorate or memory keep. You won’t have to wait for glue to dry or get your fingers sticky or make your paper all weird if you use a tape runner.

You can use this to make a small calendar or a checklist, or add some flair and decoration. The wheel is a great option for your habit trackers and will really reduce how annoying setting up habit trackers is.
