5 Book Series That NEED To Be Made Into Movies

mm
Making books into movie is always a great idea, but the novels themselves will always be better. Nonetheless, here are some book series that should be movies if they haven't already been made into movies yet!

It’s the new thing lately for Hollywood to take beloved book series and turn them into movies. I mean, it’s a cash cow, right? Everyone who loves the books will support the movies despite knowing that the movies can never match the magic of the novels. With the infinite amount of screen-worthy books and series out there, there’s really no shortage of options for books to be made into movies. These are some really interesting book series that have great potential to flourish on the big screen. Below are 5 book series that should be movies:

5 Book Series That NEED To Be Made Into Movies

1. The Selection Series by Kiera Cass

With three main books in the series and two more that follow a later timeline in addition to a couple novellas and short stories, this one could really work. In the vein of The Bachelor on T.V., these books follow the story of two royal girls who invite a number of men into the castle to vie for her hand in marriage before she’s ready to take the throne.

2. The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare

The Infernal Devices is a prequel trilogy to The Mortal Instruments which got a very poorly-executed film in 2013. This trilogy focuses mainly on Shadowhunters Jem and Will and especially their friend Tessa, who they are both in love in with. However, the integral story isn’t just romance, but it revolves around hunting demons and dealing with the Downworlders. This one takes place in 1800’s London, England, a landscape that’s historically worked well on the big screen.

3. The Legend trilogy by Marie Lu

In a sci-fi dystopia, this series isn’t lacking for action and adventure. Daniel “Day” Wing was born into a poor family. He is labeled as a wanted criminal for escaping labor camps.  June Iparis is a gifted girl who was born into an elite family. Their worlds collide and they conspire to uncover the truth about what’s really going on behind the scenes of the new Republic of America. As one of my personal favorite series, this one has incredible potential.

4. The Mara Dyer trilogy by Michelle Hodkin

Mystery, fantasy, and romance characterize this series. Mara Dyer wakes up not being able to remember an accident that killed all of her friends but left her oddly completely unharmed. There’s more to Mara than meets the eye, though, and things get really complicated really quickly for her. This book has been highly praised and would likely have a large amount of people backing it if it were made into a movie.

5. The Mortality Doctrine by James Dashner

From the author of the successful (both in novels and films) Maze Runner books, James Dashner crafts a really clever series in The Mortality Doctrine. It follows a boy named Michael who spends almost all of his time in the VirtNet, a full-body virtual reality experience. The government has been watching Michael, and his abilities as a hacker lead them to enlist him in the fight to take down a criminal who threatens to take down VirtNet. To do that, he has to go off the main grid. And this could blur the lines between his reality and the game. This series has all the drama and special effects opportunities to do well in film format.
