Top 10 Best Vegan Restaurants in NYC

Living in the Big Apple really does simplify trying to live a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle, since there are so many restaurant options to choose from. Recently, I did my research, and I found the top 10 best places to eat – specifically for those of us who don’t consume animal products, but still like when our food tastes good! Keep reading for the 10 best vegan restaurants in NYC.

1. Angelica Kitchen

300 E 12th St, New York, NY 10003

Angelica Kitchen runs on plant based recipes that dance on your taste buds. They might even convince your meat eating friends to convert to the light side of dietary choices. Burgers can still exist in a vegan world!

2. Avant Garden

130 E 7th St, New York, NY 10009

Avant Garden is for those who want fine dining without the hassle of having to adjust all of those meat filled entrées to your needs. This restaurant is incredibly classy; everything from the presentation to the décor just screams sophistication. Vegans like to get fancy sometimes too.

3. Blossom Du Jour

617 9th Ave, New York, NY 10036 (just one of five locations!)

Blossom is the holy grail of vegan food. Everything from their meatless meatball marinara sub with vegan cheese (not the proper name) to their dairy free milkshake is absolutely delicious. One meal here and you will be hooked for months. Plus their staff is always super accommodating and will answer any questions that you may have. You can find this delicious menu of food in multiple locations other than just this one. They have a total of five vegan restaurants all over Manhattan.

4. Dun-Well Doughnuts

222 Montrose Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11206

Just because you can no longer indulge in the common food chains doesn’t mean you cannot treat yo’self to a doughnut every once in a while. These are the doughnuts you want to be cheating on your diet with, trust me. I personally recommend any of the ones with chocolate icing.

5. Peacefood

41 E 11th St, New York, NY 10003

The first time I ever had Peacefood was by accident. I was wandering around lower Manhattan near the New School trying to find a vintage shop. Thank all vegan options that I found this safe haven. Not only do they have amazing dishes, but they also have incredible juices that will have you turning away every boring glass of orange juice for the rest of your life.

6. Screamers Pizzeria

620 Manhattan Ave, Greenpoint, NY 11222

You cannot live in New York and not eat pizza. It’s not allowed. You may have found your cheeseless fixes with the chain delivery companies, but if you want special vegan pizza with lactose free cheese, give this a go. It may not be the same as the common dollar greasy slices, but you will definitely be wowed at the amount of veggies that you can possible squeeze onto once slice.

7. Rockin’ Raw

171 Sullivan St, New York, NY 10012

Ladies and gentleman, we have dream meals I repeat we have dream meals. Except there is nothing pretend about these menu options. Everything from pizza to pasta. They even have burritos. I dare you to try and find an option you don’t want to devour. Hint: you won’t be able to.

8. Toad Style

93 Ralph Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11221

Vegan food just went fast food. If you want a quick and hearty meal, stop by Toad style for a taste at a meal you’ll want to eat every day for the rest of the week.

9. The Butcher’s Daughter

19 Kenmare St, New York, NY 10012

The Butcher’s Daughter prides itself on a menu that has sustainable options, and when they say vegan they mean vegan. On the weekend they limit the food options to just a brunch menu, but they have vegan tacos that will permanently paste a smile on your face without a doubt.

10. Bliss Café

191 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11211

The funny thing with Bliss Café was that I had stumbled into it to try and avoid cold weather while trekking in the surrounding area. Being right in Williamsburg makes this quaint café prone to a lot of business, but there is nothing commercial about it. From decorations to the menu, you will fall in love with this yellow clad restaurant and might even feel a little bit too at home that you’ll never want to leave.
