10 Best Trending TikTok Recipes To Try

TikTok is not just about dances and challenges, it’s also about recipes! If you’re currently quarantined at home, finding new entertainment or ways to pass the time might be a challenge. If you’re looking for a new hobby, try some of these bizarre trending sweet-treat recipes from TikTok chefs!

1.) Pancake Cereal

This one is hard to explain, but it has over 40 million searches on TikTok, so bear with me. Essentially, this recipe is a regular pancake recipe, but the pancake batter is shaped into lots of tiny pancakes that resemble a cereal. The mini pancakes are then placed into a bowl with syrup poured on top, and eaten like a cereal. The only ingredients to this recipe are pancake mix, syrup and butter. You can either use store-bought pancake mix, or you can make your own. Then, spoon the batter into lots of small pancakes onto a griddle. Ideally, the pancakes should be no bigger than an inch. Once they are ready, flip them over like normal pancakes, then serve into a bowl and pour syrup on top.  This recipe sounds like the weird and wonderful we’re all searching for to spice up quarantine life.

2.) French Toast Waffle Sticks

Continuing with the theme of breakfast foods, French toast waffle sticks are sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. They are essentially a French toast batter shaped into waffles, and then cut into sticks. For the batter, mix 1 egg, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and vanilla extract, and 1/4 cup of milk together in a bowl. Then, soak a white piece of bread into the batter on both side, and then place the bread into a waffle maker. Let it cook like a waffle, and once done cut into strips and serve onto a place. Sprinkle them with powdered sugar, and then dip them into syrup.

3.) Deep Fried Pancake Tacos

This recipe comes to your courtesy of Jason Derulo himself. While this might not be the best recipe to help keep off those quarantine pounds, it is sure to be tasty, and is surprisingly simple. To make it, mix together some store bought batter. Stir the batter well, dip hard-shell taco shells into the batter, then deep fry them. In a small saucepan, melt two sticks of Hershey’s chocolate bars, and then spread in the inside of deep-fried tacos. Add some freshly sliced bananas and strawberries, then top with Ben and Jerry’s cookie dough ice cream, or whipped cream (or both!).

4.) Edible Birthday Cake Cookie Dough

This one is for all the cookie dough lovers out there, minus the risk of getting sick from salmonella contamination. To make this cookie dough, mix 1 tbs sugar, 1 tbs almond milk, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 2 tbsp softened butter, 6 tbs flour. Once mixed together, sprinkle in 1/2 tsp of colorful sprinkles and 1/4 cup of white chocolate chips, and mix together again. You can either serve it into small balls on a plate, store in the fridge, or eat it directly out of the bowl.

5.) Orange Candy

Peel an orange, and then cut the peel into large crescent shapes. Rinse them off, then boil the peels in a pot for 8 minutes. Rinse them again, then separate the peel from the pitch (use a knife to cut off the white-part inside the peel). Cut the peels into smaller pieces, then boil again for another 8 minutes. Rinse again. In a separate pan, pour in a 1:1 ratio of sugar and water, and dissolve on medium heat. Throw in the peels, and leave it in for about 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, set them on a rack and let them dry for a day. Coat with powdered sugar, and they’re ready to enjoy!

6.) Starburst Popcorn

This recipe is a fun alternative to caramel corn. It is simple, but might require some more patience than  other recipes. Start by opening a bag of Starburst, then separate the candies by color and unwrap each (you’ll need about 20 candies per color). Place each color group individually into their own bowls. Pour 1/4 of a cup of light corn syrup into a saucepan, then 1 tbsp of butter. Add one color of your starburst into the pan, and stir melt the mixture over medium-high heat until all the ingredients melt together. Meanwhile, place a bag of microwaveable popcorn into the microwave, and grab a baking sheet with parchment paper laid over it. Add about 5 cups of popcorn into a bowl, and then pour the melted starburst mixture over the top of the popcorn. Mix together until the popcorn is all coated, then transfer the popcorn onto the parchment paper. Then, repeat the same process for the other colors of starburst to end up with a colorful mixture of starburst coated popcorn.

7.) Quarantini

This “quarantini” recipe is a perfect martini recipe to enjoy during cocktail hour in quarantine. In a blender, add 1 can of White Claw Hard Seltzer of your choice. Next, add 1 shot of vodka, some canned pineapple and frozen strawberries, and blend all together. Add some ice for some texture and blend again. Serve into a glass, and feel free to garnish the side with a slice of pineapple, strawberry, or lime.

8.) Homemade Starbucks Frappuccino Recipe

This is a DIY copycat Starbucks Frappuccino recipe for quarantine when you can’t go out to get Starbucks! To get started, add 2 cups of ice and 1 cup of cold black coffee to a blender. Next, add 1 cup of milk, and then a drizzle of chocolate or caramel sauce for sweetening. If you like your coffee on the extra sweet side, feel free to add 3 tsp of sugar to balance the bitterness of the coffee. Blend it all up, then serve into glasses and enjoy!

9.) Apple Nachos

This 5 ingredient apple nachos recipe makes for an easy and healthy dessert! Slice 1 apple into wedges, then lay out on a plate. Next, spread 1 tbsp of cashew butter on top of the slice. Sprinkle some chocolate chips and unsweetened shaved coconut on top, and 1 tsp of chia seeds for protein, and you’re all set to enjoy!

10.) The Famous Whipped Coffee Recipe

This recipe first took off when social-distancing started to become a thing, and ever since then it’s been one of the most recent viral TikTok trends. I’ve found the original whipped coffee recipe so you can get on this trend too.  In a small bowl, mix together 2 tbsp instant coffee, 2 tbsp of sugar, and 2 tbsp of hot water. Then, mix the ingredient vigorously until it is thick and creamy. In a glass (or mason jar for aesthetic purposes) add plenty of ice, and 1 1/2 cups of milk. Then, spoon the mixed coffee mixture to the glass, and stir together to enjoy!
