I don’t think there’s anything better than cuddling up under a thick blanket and watching a good, heartwarming Rom Com whilst it’s pouring with rain outside, it’s just the best way to spend your day. I’ve watched a fair few Rom Coms in my day, and I’ve complied a list here of my top 1o best Rom Coms to watch on a cosy day inside, especially for you guys.
Bridget Jones’s Diary is a modern day classic, and 100% one of the best rom com films out there. It’s witty, funny and has a good dash of hopeless romance – just the perfect combination really. Plus, we’ve all been like Bridget at least once in our lives.
I was introduced to Monster-in-law during this past year, and I can’t believe I went 19 years without having it in my life. This film hangs more on the comedy side of a Rom-Com, but it’s pretty damn good.
27 dresses is another great watch. It follows Jane and her life of always being the bridesmaid and never the bride, and the 27 dresses that are the result of that! Highlight of the film – the dress montage, some of those dresses are hilariously ugly.
Bride wars is legit one of THE best Rom-Coms to watch when you’re having a cosy day, because it’s got a good mix of everything. It’s got the good comedy, brilliant revenge sequences, a touch of sadness and overall the best pair of ridiculous friends I’ve ever seen in a movie. And come on, any movie with Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson is bound to be good.
This film is legit one of the funniest films I’ve ever seen, and it’s even heartwarming and romantic in places too, it’s another one with the whole package! It’s slightly reminiscent of Bride Wars in terms of the two best friends fighting over a wedding, but it’s a brilliant movie in its own rights.
Legally blonde, led by the queen that is Elle Woods, is legit the best lighthearted feminist film of the 21st century, and some of the lines are just iconic, I’m sure everyone’s quoted legally blonde at least once in their lives.
When Harry met Sally is honestly indescribable, please just go and watch it, you wont regret it. It’s just one of those old films that’s just pure gold, it has an incredible plot and by the end you’re left so invested in Harry and Sally, it’s brilliant.
This film is hands down, the best book-to-movie adaptation of all time. The tender way that the plot line is played out is just perfect, and you can’t help but love Lou Clark from the very beginning.
Young Heath Ledger, singing, dancing and just being an actual heart-throb all in one scene, need I say more?
About Time, to me, is the perfect Rom Com. It’s just so heartwarming and familiar – you just feel so comfortable watching Tim live his strange life, like he’s a close friend you’ve known since being a child. The whole tone of the movie is lighthearted, but I can’t guarantee you wont need tissues, because you’ll be drawn into the lovely Lake family and you’ll feel every emotion they feel just as strongly. Life and grief go hand in hand in everyones lives, but this film is all about living your life the way you want to, understanding just how important your family is, and always remembering to be the happiest you can be.
