Choosing an outfit for a school tailgate or game day is never easy, especially if you’re not as used to the scene. But even if you are, we all know how daunting the process of choosing an outfit can be! Keep reading for some of the best Alabama game day outfit ideas!
Whether it’s a flowy sundress, a two piece, or a romper from Tobi…as long as it’s Red, White, or Black, you’re set. We all know that going to UA comes with a crimson colored closet, but it’s all worth it for the Tide. (And also, trading closets with your friends always comes in clutch because naturally, re-wearing the same outfit would be social suicide.)
It’s all about the shoes. From fringe booties to cowboy boots, the shoes can make or break an outfit. Be aware though, those cute shoes you bought from that boutique this summer, will be trashed in mud after a day of tailgating so unless they’re washer-safe, it might not be worth it.
Accessorizing is always important as it can change a simple outfit to a banger. Chokers, drop down necklaces, watches, are great for finishing touches. (All which can be found for cheap at forever 21, or boutiques in midtown).
Anything goes for your hair on game day. But as a fair warning, Alabama in the first few months of game day is HOT. Especially on early game days, you feel like you are DYING and the humidity does not help when you’re standing on the stands cheering for the tide. That being said, a sleek ponytail might not be the worst idea and can make just a short and tight top look BOMB.
Girls, the new Kylie lip kits are everything, and any red color looks good on ANYONE. Lipstick is the perfect thing to make a killer outfit even better and if the Kylie lip kits seem unnecessarily expensive, try colour pop for a cheaper alternative!! (They’re just as cute).
You don’t see anyone on game day without sunglasses and whether it’s the typical ray bans, or the newest trendy glasses that are out, shades are a MUST for game day.
Last but not least, the game day pin. If you have no idea what this is, game day pins in the south are everything. It’s one thing that makes the South stand out (along with many other reasons) and is such a different but fun tradition that others across the country don’t have.
While some schools have fanny packs or tank tops with their sorority on them, in the south everyone wears a cute pin with their sorority name on it that ends with “loves the tide” or another slogan for your specific school. This way, as you and your sorority travel in a pack, you can be spotted from miles away. On the other hand, your date (yes game day dates in the south are a thing), wears your sorority game day sticker. It’s the perfect addition to the perfect game day outfit!
