Best Activities to do Alone

One thing I have learned is that as I have gotten older, I appreciate my alone time. There is something so sacred about spending time alone. Honestly, if you told me that I would love my alone time five years ago, I would have thought you were crazy! But when you grow up, have busy schedules, and feel you are constantly moving at 100mph, you will quickly fall in love with the quiet moments. I also think that I show maturity when I can do things alone! Sometimes we need to be alone and enjoy our own company! It is essential to spend time alone but to prevent you from feeling as though you’re bored, here are my favorite activities to do alone!

1. Read

In my opinion, one of the best activities to do alone is reading. There are so many good books out and so many good recommendations. When I always find that I need some alone time or space from people, I try to find a good book and a quiet area in my room or a comfortable spot in my apartment to take some time for myself and read. You can make this experience beyond enjoyable. Put on your favorite lounge set and your comfiest blanket, prop yourself up with a cute pillow, and you may begin. Depending on the time of day and your mood, you could even add a glass of wine to have sides you, a nice cup of coffee, or maybe you’re just trying to stay hydrated and then stick to water. I always think it’s good to have one or two pleasure reading books around. Some books that you want to read and you can leave them in your bedroom and create a little stack. Or, if you prefer to read e-books, then feel free to download some lovely books onto your kindle or device. I think that reading is a perfect activity to do alone because you don’t feel pressure to read faster and you won’t get distracted. So that your reading experience can be the most enjoyable, it can be. Reading can give you a new reality that can make you feel so many different emotions and remove you from the real world. Some could argue that TV does the same thing, but I time we don’t want to be watching or listening to anything, and this is when books can be an excellent alternative. One of my favorite activities to do alone is reading because it gives you an alternate reality and lets you get comfortable and settle in with a good book.

2. Walk

I think that going on walks is nice to do alone. First, you want to ensure that you feel safe and that you’re in an excellent area to walk alone. It never hurts to bring your phone with you can keep it under disturb if you want, but just to ensure that safety is still in the back of your head as you are alone. But going on walks is one of my favorite activities to do alone it allows you to think with your thoughts. Sometimes when I get tired of being with people constantly and need 30 minutes for myself and be alone with my thoughts, going on a walk helps me do this. If I want to listen to a podcast or music, I’ll put my air pods in, but sometimes I want to be with my thoughts, and going on a walk allows me to do this. It’s an excellent movement on your body that will enable you to feel better without too much energy and offers you peace and tranquility. I always find that walking alone last weekend gathers my thoughts and feelings and checks my emotions. Walking alone can be highly beneficial for managing my stress, taking time for myself, and overall an enjoyable experience!

3. Shopping

I love shopping alone; it’s easily one of my favorite things! Sometimes if I go shopping with a friend or my mom or a sibling, then I have a different experience when I’m shopping. Sometimes, I want to go into the stores that I want to go into and try on items that I like. It’s nice never to feel rushed or judged for anything you buy or try on. Shopping alone can be an extremely premium experience. You can take your time to enjoy the experience of shopping. I think it’s nice to go shopping alone because you’re on your timetable sometimes when I go into the mall it makes me feel stressed and anxious. I’m like, I have to get everything I need, and I have to be out in an hour when I’m alone. Some of the stress kind of goes away, which is nice. One of my favorite activities to do alone is go shopping.

4. Meals

Surprisingly I often enjoy meals alone. I wouldn’t say I like to do this all the time, but if I have the opportunity to pick myself up, take out, go out to eat, or make a nice meal, I will. Sometimes it’s nice to have some good food by yourself. I find that this can be beneficial for me if I’m super overwhelmed or stressed out. Just take the time, whether it be 20 minutes or an hour, to have a meal alone. It allows me to check in with how I’m doing and take time for myself. I think having a meal alone can be essential but is also a delightful experience.

5. Manicure and pedicure

If you’re looking for more of a treat for an activity to do yourself, I highly recommend going to your local nail salon to get a manicure and pedicure. This activity by yourself is very relaxing and enjoyable. Usually, when my feet go into the water, and I’m getting a pedicure, my eyelids are already shutting. It’s nice to feel no pressure to have to talk to someone while in the nail salon. So I find this a gratifying and relaxing experience. I can sit if I’m in the mood to put in headphones, then I can listen to TV or a movie or a podcast or music, anything I’m in the mood for. But I often end up sitting in the chair listening to the running water and like the background chatter of the nail salon. It’s super relaxing and takes a minute to care for myself. If you’re looking for something to do alone, I highly recommend going to a nail salon.
