5 Sustainable Fashion Brands To Look Out For

I am mortified to admit that somewhere hidden in the depths of my closet is a pre 2008 “Save the Whales” slogan T.  As embarrassed as I am to own up to that, I am 100% willing to admit, I am a Greenpeace loving, reusable bag toting, climate change believing, sustainable fashion loving, activist. I’ve even found myself clicking ‘add to cart’ on a 70’s style crop tops with the words ‘save the reef’ emblazoned across the chest in all caps.

We reduce, reuse, and recycle plastic, it really is time we started taking note of our fashion footprint. I’m sure someone has already said it, but green really is the new black.

These 5 brands help consumers become more aware of the environmental effects caused by the fashion industry. Investing in sustainable and recycled fabrics, safe dyes and fair trade practices in developing nations.

1 .Reformation

With all their clothing produced in the US with sustainable fabrics, these guys eat, sleep and breathe sustainability. Even their slogan tells us exactly what they’re all about: “Being naked is the #1 most sustainable option. We’re #2.” Simple and bold, their silhouettes are modern and easy to wear. Sending out subtle 70’s vibes their designs screams effortless style. The best thing is that each sustainable fashion item tells you where the fabric was sourced from and exactly how much water, carbon and waste was saved #win.

2. Organic Basics

Sustainability is a panty dropper and as humble as their name, Organic Basics believes in simple and sustainable fashion. Specializing in basic underwear for both genders; Organic Basics’ are made pretty much entirely from sustainable cotton farms.

3. ArmedAngels

Their philosophy promotes fair trade and sustainable materials, but ArmedAngels is much more than that. They offer exciting basics and simple wardrobe essentials that scream NY fashion girl. Insane denim, timeless shapes and interesting patterns, this one is a brand to watch.

4. H&M Conscious Collection

Good for the environment and your wallet, H&M’s Conscious collection uses recycled materials for their garment construction. The collection exclusively uses polyester created from recycled shoreline waste.
